Changi airport to hotel with toddler. Transportation options?

We're staying a night in Singapore and we're traveling with a (by then) 16 month old. In terms of getting to our hotel and then back to Changi, how do we safely transport our toddler? Can taxis in Singapore provide car seats? We're not bringing our own.

We're staying at Park Avenue Changi which is apparently 10 minutes drive from Changi. I am considering switching to Crowne Plaza Changi instead but seems silly to pay $500 (twice what I've paid) just for a night's sleep.

We're new to traveling with a child so I welcome any information on this.

Rules in SING are kids under 1.35m tall must have child restraint in rear when in private cars including rideshare

Public transport including taxis are exempt from this rule.

I never understood exemptions like that. Taxis crash too. Are people expected to hold on to their infants at 30 g's of deceleration?

I would just catch the MRT to Expo and walk from there.
Would probably be quicker then organising a Grab family and waiting for the pickup.

In my experience, the 'car seat's' are just the mifold which I wouldn't feel super comfortable with for a 16month old.

Depends if I'm able to check through all the luggage all the way to Oslo or not. We're going for 2+ months so bringing a lot of stuff.

MRT is the train. Expo is the next stop and the hotel looks to be across the road.

If you have too much luggage to take on a train one stop and a short walk, then you'll have too much luggage for a grab.

Another option is to book a private car to collect you. Last time I did this, I used Klook to book a private transfer for a late arrival for my family. Driver met us at the carousel, walked a short way to the car. We selected a people mover, and got a hi-ace so plenty of room. Probably a $50-90 cost, but might be ok to reduce hassle and stress.

I would say it depends on how old they are and how long was the flight.

Short trip you could probably wait a bit for a grab with the kids keeping it together.

Long haul, would rather minimise the waiting and get straight to the destination.

The experience above was very valuable as the car seats were already in the car and good to go.

Getting grabs with the car seats can take some time, far cheaper option but have waited a fair while for one If you need two seats.

Debating that depending on what I can do for transfers. I'd love a day room in Sentosa with a pool I think

We did 2 kids in a van, was $60 1 way to Sentosa. 6yo was belted normal. The 1yo we kept in our lap. We had quite a bit of luggage for a 1wk trip

Last few times we've just stopped for a night so Crowne Plaza has been the easy option

For our 20 minute drive from Seattle CBD to SeaTac we hired a black car service as they were the only ones willing to provide a car seat. We had too much luggage to go on the train. We discussed one of us taking a taxi with luggage to SeaTac and the other on the train with pram, but my wife is not worldly and too nervous to split up like that.

in the end we paid $250 for a 20 minute drive. Stupidly expensive but at least we finished our USA trip in style
