Hey there, I have two questions for you all:

Next month, two friends and I will be visiting Melbourne (PER-MEL in Y), and flying back to Perth in J on VA. Both flights are booked on the same award ticket.

On the final day, instead of staying in Melbourne, we're now considering going on a day trip to Brisbane (to see Les Miserables). So we would book a separate flight MEL-BNE, leaving that morning, and then fly direct BNE-PER in the evening, after the show.

Question 1) Can we change the MEL-PER leg to BNE-PER without having to cancel the whole award and rebook (costing us $35 per person, correct?). There is still availability for 3 seats in J.

Question 2) Assuming we arrive at BNE around 10am, and change the return leg to BNE-PER departing 8:30pm, can we drop off our luggage early/leave it at the airport somewhere? Really don't want to drag it into the city for the day.

Thank you for your help!

They wouldn't let me change OOL-MEL to BNE-MEL, so you'll probably have to front up the cancellation fee (in either $ or points) to change your flight routing.

Thanks everyone! Yes, they ended up charging us the fee, cancelling and re-booking.

Almost forgot to, but I got a second call a few minutes later apologetically asking me that they needed to charge the cancel fee!
