Checked baggage allocation query

I have been a stalker here for a long while. :mrgreen:

But I have a question, hopefully you wise people can answer for me please.
I am confused, the Virgin Australia checked baggage allocation is per piece right? Ie allowed 1 bag of 23KG for a Saver fare?
But the Jetstar checked baggage counts per total weight, not piece? Ie up to 30kg *combined*?

I hope that wasn't confusing.

What you are seeing is two different airlines using two different types of luggage systems.

The piece based system is exactly that, based on the number of pieces you check in. The weight system overlooks the number of pieces in favour of the total weight checked in.

With the piece system you can have 2 bags that equal less than your allowance, however you will be charged excess as you have gone over your piece allocation.

Yes that's correct. The systems are exactly as named. Weight is the combined total where as the piece system goes by the number of pieces allowed.
