CheckMyTrip Update - No more desktop access or ticket numbers

Another one here for the CMT app being a massive step back..

When I tapped onto the app, the interface changed - I was like, okay, must be an update.

I then had to login using my email address and 6 digit code - all good there.

Then went to add my trip, was a bit fiddly with the chatbot but eventually got there.

When tapping into my trip - all flights showing, but no option to see :
- Passenger names
- e-ticket
- FF number
- Class of travel
- Seats

It literally only now shows the date, airline, cities, flight number and departure / arrival time - that's it!

What the hell happened?

Seems like a lot of these app creators / designers do not know the concept of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Most of the time for any updates, it's adding bugs into the app or removing useful functionality - for CMT it's the latter.

Recently it asked me to email them my flight details as it couldnt find a ticketed Qantas flight..something's not quite right?

Finally able to log in to the app, can see all previous trips, the bot has recognised the PNRs for the new trips I want to add - but then nothing shows up as upcoming trips. 🤦‍♂️

The new app is awful. Another example of UX being sacrificed for aesthetics - and it's not even that pretty.

Don't know how you're still able to log in on the web site. All I see is this:

My cached session on the webapp (www.checkmytrip.com) was still active and I can see the "old" pages with e-ticket numbers etc. Won't last long I'm sure.

The cynic in me says the airlines don't want us to know the details as it puts us pax in a position of having some knowledge when dealing with them.
Keep them dumb.

Very interestingly I just got a push notification about a flight time change on my upcoming OWA, despite the trip not showing in the app. So their back end systems are still working.

Now to see if the change has screwed up my whole OWA….

My web page is not just cached. I changed a seat number to check. I reloaded the CMT page and it showed my new seat number.
Your session credentials are probably cached, not the content of the API or JQuery or whatever they use.

I doubt the change will have made any difference to your actual booking - just to what you can see of it. Mostly this is difficult for us because we rely on CMT to check details that were not reliably visible anywhere else.

Still can’t use the new app….can’t update my profile can’t add a trip as bot still says unrecognisable or technical issue and come back later….pathetic and useless

Thanks. I have sent them this:

Hi
I would like to offer feedback on the changes to the CMT app.
I relied on CMT to provide a real-time window onto my Amadeus bookings. That includes ticket numbers, plane types, seating, etc. This is essential to ensure that schedule changes have not resulted in my tickets being cancelled, being able to see whether airlines have actually ticketed bookings, and on equipment changes that have knocked out my seat reservations. This information is not reliably available anywhere else.
Moreover, the new app included some old, cancelled trips; has one itinerary only half there; and one itinerary is missing. It will not let me import them and tells me they were booked by someone else.
Alarmingly, other people have told me the website no longer allows them to log in. My existing session there is cached so I can still access my full data, but I am alarmed if that access will be withdrawn and can only access the much simplified app.
Please can you reconsider the changes. This is about functionality, not aesthetics.
Kind regards
Mr H

Here’s a hack worth noting that could save a lot of heartache for minor OWA schedule changes.

1) CMT notified of a 45 minute change of departure time for a QF flight as part of a OWA. Trip includes legs on MH so panic set in about losing flights if re-ticketing or revalidation required. (No push notification from QF…)
2) Log into QF MMB. Big yellow banner saying flight time has changed but only option is to call Qantas. No button to accept change. Unable to do things like change seat selection, so booking is effectively locked until change accepted … but no online option to accept.
3) Log on to MH MMB to check status. Big banner to say flight has changed, must accept change to continue. Scroll to bottom of screen and lo and behold there’s an accept time change button.
4) Accept change on MH site
5) Change reflected immediately on QF MMB. Able to do things like change seats etc again. Time change yellow banner has gone.
6) Confirmed by RJ and CMT desktop site that all flights present and accounted for and original ticket number still showing, presumably revalidated.

So for those who get notified that a flight time has changed and the new time is acceptable it might be worth seeing if the MH website is your friend when QF MMB tells you to call them. Follow this advice at your own risk!

I had a near identical experience with a QR time change on my OWA at the end of last year.

Got a CMT change notice a couple of weeks out from a QR flight and obviously panicked because we all know what can happen, but wasn't in a position to call QF at the time.

Flight wasn't showing confirmed in QF or CMT as all others were, so double panicked. Logged into to QR website (not 100% sure if it was website or app, but think it was the website), notified of and accepted change there, and straight away QF and CMT updated to confirmed.

e-Tickets are there but via the horrible BOT….
