China Airlines business class?

Looks like they have downgraded their champagne from Piper Heidsieck Vintage 2012/14 to Didier Chopin. Has anyone flown lately to confirm?

We were on them in May this year and the food Singapore to Taiwan and return was good. I didn't drink any champagne and the photo I took of the menu simply says "Wine Selection".

I did a TR including these flights but it was far from brief.

Has anyone flow CI in J lately and can share what was on the wine list?

got a flight coming up in October

A friend just flew on CI from MEL to TPE in J on 4 Oct 2024 and below is the wine list and menu

A HUGE upgrade from Champagne Charles Ellner Carte Blanche and back in line with the previous Piper Heidsieck Vintage that was being poured in 2023

Aw jeez, that's about a millionty times more interesting than J Sydney <==> London in 2018!!! They pretty much had "a red", "a white", " a bubbly" and a Johnny Walker blended Scotch - and that was about it.

Those wines & boozes are probably not as fancy as the Emirates F from 2016, but in terms of being interesting to me (and a desire to try) it's not far short! :)

Thanks for that!!

Now I'm intrigued on what was on board that 2016 Emirates flight?

As for the CI flight, the champagne is probably the best I have seen floating around in J and the red is the same as what's being offered in EK J just different vintages

Sorry @tmdl I don't recall. I'm not a bubbly person, I mean I'll happily drink it but it doesn't excite me ... however I do remember my wife enthusing about how much she enjoyed it & how exxy it was. Being more a Reds person, the Chianti there looks like it's a ~$60 bottle and the stuff they had on our EK flight was sorta the ~$150/bottle 8 years ago ... but if you told me their wines were chosen based on price more than flavour I'd believe you, I've been buying $15/bottle stuff for work Friday drinks which I enjoy more than the stuff EK had.

Back to CI, definitely no coughtails on our 2018 flight! :)

I flew China Airlines Business Class a few months ago, and I really enjoyed the experience! The seats were super comfy, which made a long flight way more manageable. They had a nice selection of wines, including some decent French reds and a tasty champagne. I remember trying the Asian dishes, and they were surprisingly good—definitely a step up from what you get in economy.

I flew with China Airlines in 2019 to London Gatwick and return from Amsterdam. Even though I am a "drinker" I tend not to drink much on a 20+ hour journey. The seats are comfortable and we both slept well. Do try some of the Taiwanese food from Taipei. catering.

Overall I rated it similar to J with Singapore or Cathay, noting that alcohol is probably a step below. We also paid sub $4000 for J fares each at that time, Sadly I don't quite see those prices coming back.

It has reminded me I have some "orphan" points with Delta (Skyteam) from the flight, which are enough for a shorter US Domestic flight.

I would gladly fly them again to Europe or East Coast USA, in J or try PE.

By looking at the long haul menu, CI looks like they have lifted their game and their wines/ champagne/ drinks is far more superior than what SQ is offering in J

I'm not a wine guy so I can't put anything forward in regards to that, but I can speak on the food and general amenities when I went TPE-SYD in April. The food was honestly great, and I'm not a big seafood guy. Mapo tofu lobster was to die for. Also the TPE lounge is great, nice selection of foods even late at night and the showers were spacious. You should find it most enjoyable. I can't speak on their past services, but the CI we went with was lovely, cabin staff were polite and the seats were comfortable. Only downside is the onboard entertainment options being limited, but not a huge issue for me as I have my macbook with me whenever I travel.

We did a Singapore/Taipei/Singapore trip last year. As others have said the food was good and the seat etc very comfortable. Crew were pleasant and service was good. I wasn't all that excited by their Taipei lounge at 06:00 but it was ok. Also not a big drinker so I didn't really take much notice of their offerings. Their entertainment offerings were a little weak but reasonable.

I flew from TPE - MEL in business class last week, and would concur with other posters in relation to the quality of the food, as well as comfort.

I had the fillet mignon which was excellent, and worth staying awake for, being served at 1:30am in Taiwanese time.

One tip in relation to the TPE lounge is that the showers will be locked, even if vacant, until you see the staff at reception to make a 'booking' - they unlocked a shower room immediately for me after I enquired as there was little demand that evening.

Not the fault of the airline, but some other passengers in J were a bit put out by the arrival into MEL, where we parked at a remote stand over near T4, and disembarked through stairs on a cold day onto awaiting shuttle buses, which is an experience I have only previously had when flying on Dash-8s and Saab 340s.

We had this in either SYD or TPE on CI too (can’t recall which it was).

Does anyone know if you have a QF reward flight with CI is there anyway to change it to different time say the flight that leaves 40mins later?

We were booked on the 777 from TPE - KIX at 8.00am but that has been downgraded to A330 but the 8.40am is on the 777
