docjames, I remember looking: the second one departed if I recall at 2247 (and presumably took off quickly), as indicated in the first post you copied.
As with all these post 2130 departures (SYD having a number of international flights like this), not a lot needs to go wrong to miss the curfew, which is one reason why so many international airlines (if not all) prefer 24 hour curfew free airports, or at least 22 hour curfew free like MNL. They are however in a bind because clearly SYD continues to be the number one destination for overseas leisure inbound travellers to Oz and perhaps to a slightly lesser extent for the minority who are business travellers. MEL has been tending to gain market share (though not in the latest month's BITRE figures) but SYD is still dominant for international flights with a passenger market share of about 40 - 41 per cent as opposed to MEL's 26 per cent: not so long ago, MEL was not much above 20 per cent.
