China Eastern Delays/Cancellations

Saturday 15 February sees MU7062, the 2050 hours MEL - PVG and the closely following MU762, the 2230 hours cancelled.

On Monday 6 July, MU562 is again cancelled. This may be because of the inwards 50 passengers per person (and across all airlines 450 maximum overseas arrivals) mandated under new arrangements for each of SYD, MEL and BNE airports.

The ongoing severe restrictions on international passenger numbers in SYD and BNE (inbound even worse to MEL; no one allowed) have resulted in few international flights.

On Thursday 16 July 2020 during coronaviurus, MU562, an 1100 hours midmorning SYD - PVG has been cancelled.

MU562, an 1100 hours SYD - PVG was cancelled on Sunday 19 and Monday 20 July, possibly because of the even more restricted cap on inbound passenger arrivals each day into SYD. (BNE also has this, while due to the surge in coronavirus cases, any inbound flights to MEL are not conveying passengers).

On Wednesday 16 December 2020, MU562, the 1200 'high noon' from SYD up to PVG is predicted to depart 75 minutes late.

MU561, the 1830 hours PVG - SYD on Tuesday 22 March 2022 (B77W B-7881) did not become airborne until 2214 so on Wednesday 23, expected arrival is 1054 hours, 174 minutes late.

MU appears to have only recently resumed flying to Australia but unfortunately in the last 24 hours has been in the news with the sad crash of a domestic flight operated by a B737 incorrectly assumed by many to be a MAX.

Given the (failing) 'zero COVID' policy in mainland China, its airlines have had dramatic reductions in frequency to and from Oz; rare bords indeed, at least for carrying revenue passengers.

MU562 on Wednesday 14 September 2022 (an 1130 hours SYD up to PVG) is delayed 26 hours to a predicted 1330 departure on Thursday 15.

On Friday 20 September, MU562, the 1100 hours from SYD up to PVG took off at 1124. Expected arrival becomes 1931 hours, 31 minutes late for A359 B-32DJ.
