Might make some people take precautions before they travel.Correct me if I am wrong, but don't the current tests start to show positive a day after the onset of symptoms? In which case, unless people are travelling while symptomatic, the tests will be more for show than anything.
Agreed and I think that's exactly the point.Correct me if I am wrong, but don't the current tests start to show positive a day after the onset of symptoms? In which case, unless people are travelling while symptomatic, the tests will be more for show than anything.
I’m no fan of the Chinese government but have many Chinese friends here and have travelled to China extensively over the years and love it.U.S. will require airline passengers traveling from China to test negative for Covid
New rules for USA on travelers from China, HK and Macau - from Jan 5, need -ve PCR 2 days before departure... hope same will apply to Australia!
if they want to enter western countries, fair enough but they should be vetted for suspicious activities such as supporting CCP - even as tourists.I’m no fan of the Chinese government but have many Chinese friends here and have travelled to China extensively over the years and love it.
I’m more than happy for travel to open up again between us
You can buy passports, medical degrees, all sorts in China. I am sure it will not be difficult to buy a -ve PCR travel document.Might make some people take precautions before they travel.
It won't happen because Australia is trying too hard to mend the trade between China and Australia.U.S. will require airline passengers traveling from China to test negative for Covid

I think there are other nationalities doing the same.Off topic, but Chinese students buy their degrees in AU too (as reported by SBS undercover investigation a few years back).
I understand your point, but I hope we can be tougher against the Chinese regime... as to this travel test, I hope we can implement it because we don't know what is in this new variantIt won't happen because Australia is trying too hard to mend the trade between China and Australia.

Listening to a US epidemiologist last night. His opinion was that there won't be such a risk because the Chinese population is generally 'naive ' both in natural immunity and poor vaccination so the virus has no need to morph into a variant in order to infect masses of people. I hope he is right.I understand your point, but I hope we can be tougher against the Chinese regime... as to this travel test, I hope we can implement it because we don't know what is in this new variant
I genuinely hope you are correct - perhaps I am from HK, and have a different view of CCP compared to many others in this forum, but this virus is not to be underestimatedListening to a US epidemiologist last night. We will not be tougher.
No that's true. And I hope so too. Understand your thoughts. I tend not to express them here. .I genuinely hope you are correct - perhaps I am from HK, and have a different view of CCP compared to many others in this forum, but this virus is not to be underestimated
if they want to enter western countries, fair enough but they should be vetted for suspicious activities such as supporting CCP - even as tourists... i am sorry but I feel that none are innocent
generally i agree with you but the problem in this case is many chinese people (not all but too many) are supporters of ccp to the point where they could harm australia national security... i did say vet them, if they are no threat to australia - of course they are welcome, but this is just my own personal opinion after what i had seen in the last few years such as wolf warrior antics from china.Since when is supporting a political party a reasonable ground for denying entry? Australia respects freedom of political expression.
I live in an area with a high documented Chinese population. From their accents I know many are from mainland China. My belief is some are sleepers.if they want to enter western countries, fair enough but they should be vetted for suspicious activities such as supporting CCP - even as tourists... i am sorry but I feel that none are innocent
are they on tourist visas?I live in an area with a high documented Chinese population. From their accents I know many are from mainland China. My belief is some are sleepers.
I can't tell that from their accents but they are home owners so I guess not. Not alot appear to work.are they on tourist visas?
Well if they are not on tourist visas then they already go through fairly extensive checks as part of the visa application process. Sleepers, incidentally, are not usually jobless as that would defeat their whole purpose.I can't tell that from their accents but they are home owners so I guess not. Not alot appear to work.
