China - what is actually the reality there?

Well, that’s odd...
Today, after weeks of showing something like 1-5 deaths per day, the Coronavirus Update (Live): 2,183,908 Cases and 146,872 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Pandemic - Worldometer website is showing 1290 deaths in China today so far (with roughly another 19 hours to go). That’s on top of a previous total of about 3340 - a one day increase of about 38%.
Theres probably a story in there somewhere...

A retrospective adjustment to the figures from Wuhan province.

Perhaps they have gone over the paperwork and counted a few more people that died at home without being tested or something similar.

If the mortality rate is 1%, what does that mean for actual cases?

Yep "Forgot" is a common excuse in the mainland Chinese government culture... I know this because of my Chinese heritage.. and I have a feeling this "forgetfulness" is just the tip of a much bigger iceberg that we can't see

I totally agree with you.. the difference between the quoted figure and the actual is the key of the issue.. I seriously doubt the Chinese figures.. 4000 dead in a country of 1.4 billion people is bit too low... I wont guess the real number but the quoted amount is not trust worthy

Yea I dont think the line between people dying FROM corona and people dying WITH corona has been drawn the same in any two countries.

I think the difference with the CN figures is that everyone kinda knows they arent trying to be honest and making a mistake, they are actively obfuscating

In CCP beliefs, they think the political stability overrides everything.. especially with President Xi, as he thinks he can rule for more than the 10 years he is allowed before the change of the Chinese Constitution a few years ago.

(P.S. The change of the Chinese constitution DID occur AND Xi can rule CCP and China for as long as he wants)

And also in the command economy the government says to the local branch - you must lock down and you must not have more than X new cases and Y deaths.

The quality of products coming out of China is poor and has been poor for a long time. I've lost count of the number of things I've bought that don't actually last any length of time but most people don't care as the expectation is buy cheap expect poor quality.

In this situation I'll go with conspiracy and would not be surprised if the actual numbers in China are not far worse than what's been reported. So if they're withholding that

Though it is very probable that often mortality is over reported but total infections under recognised.
For example in the USA the CDC has requested Covid be on the death cerificates of all Covid positive patients but also if negative but symptoms and p[robable or possibly had Covid 19 as well.

I don't like Trump. I think he's a fool. But he does call a spade a spade.

I'm the opposite. America needed Trump. The world needed Trump. Trump has been a breath of fresh air.

P.S. I was born in 1964. JFK was assassinated 3 months earlier. There has not been one President since JFK that has been there for the people. Not one and that's both sides of politics.

When things are tough, the politics don't matter much, left/right, Republican Democrat…true leadership is apolitical
Trump could have been.. but he is not, there is no substance beneath the bluster and the American people are paying dearly for their choice.

Morrison seemed an unlikely prospect.. but who could say with a clear conscience..that he has not lead with his mind and with his heart..such are leaders

I think even Australian local media fits this category too.. but the fact is that we need to figure out where this virus came from and how to prevent this type of crisis from occurring again no matter which country around the world has it at the first place
