Chip & Pin? It can't be this hard

So last week I got called by Amex to tell me a potential fraud was on my card - so I wracked my brain and couldn't work out the transaction so said to cancel the card (I realised 5 mins after the call that it wasnt a fraud but there are no take backs in this game) given I was planning to cancel the card soon so I could go chip and pin. Asked the agent whether it would be chip and pin and was advised yes.

I think you can see where this is going...

New card arrived today NOT chip and PIN... time to cancel the card for a second time...

You have my sympathy on this. I had three different Amex Card numbers in the space of 10 days! Then for good measure my card was fraudulently used two weeks later! So a fourth new number!!!

Pretty sure that when I got my chip and pin Reward Maximiser card, I had to add the PIN when I first used the card. IIRC there was no option to add a PIN at any other time.

Works well now apart from the odd terminal that won't accept Amex chips.

Well mea culpa! Total unreserved apologies to Amex - the chip was hidden under the activation sticker!!!

I was calling Amex to complain and rubbed the sticker and saw a slightly different shape appear.

Helpful lady activated the card and helped me get pin put in.

Well today I asked for my new card to be sent early as it will expire whilst on our next trip.I was told that it would be chip and pin but also a complimentary change of colour-gold to plat.
