post deleted as post deemed not useful to 99% of people according to a member. sorry for wasting peoples time. I shall refrain from posting things as I don't know what people find useful or not. So easiest is just to not post. signing off.
Personally I'd prefer that your post was put back in place is it is useful to a reasonable number of people here and certainly a lot more than 1% of your post is relevant to those less familiar with vouchers

No, they're lazy because they have quite clearly kludged the gift vouchers into the existing system rather than taking the time and expense to develop it properly.
The Qantas voucher system is not perfect but is quite good for simple bookings. Qantas may or may not decide to enhance the voucher system. Sure a payment system would be nice but Virgins voucher system is not perfect either.

Where it starts to get complex is for people who are greedy wanting bonus points and make mistakes or situation changes after buying vouchers and trying to do complex things outside of the terms and conditions.

I don't know what the recent discussion has been in this thread but stick within the rules and the voucher system is pretty good. Bonus points are a good bonus and of course saving the booking fee. To each their own.

FYI, I was a bit nervous spending my $1000 voucher on a $300 flight as I was expecting to have to chase QF for the refund (having read of a few cases on here). Alas, I bought the $300 ticket and within 10 minutes, I had the 'new' voucher for $700. Had I know this would be so easy, I'd have bought thousands more!

The post is only relevant to people who want to bend the gift voucher rules. I posit that such people are VERY familiar with gift vouchers. those not familiar are more likely to follow those rules, which prohibit combining gift vouchers.
