When I made a purchase earlier this month the guy told me they were pulling out of Velocity.

Obviously incorrect :eek::oops:

I got told the same thing a few months back by a manager, he said it was costing Autobarn more than they budgeted for the points.

Seems like velocity is losing partners everywhere at the moment. Who else is on the casualty list after Autobarn, BP & Wilson?

Skybus.

I bought something at Autobarn at the weekend and I asked if they still swiped velocity cards.

The response.

"We do, but we've been instructed never to ask if a customer has one."

Seeing so many partners running for the hills makes me wonder whether we should too.

That makes sense generally and is not uncommon.

Partners join hoping to get extra revenue from customers of that program, not wanting to give away more costs. It's different if they actively try to dissuade you from using it/getting points.

Many businesses have similar where you only get extra benefits as a customer if you give a code word or similar.

Ah so that’s why they didn’t ask me last week. I wish I’d known at the time. I didn’t realise Autobarn was a partner until I read this thread today.

Lets not forget all their estore partners. I did all of my Christmas shopping through the estore with the bonus points for David Jones, Apple, Catch, etc and have collected quite a few points through that. They're all pending of course but they'll clear next month. Was a shame they didn't do the 10k bonus this year but they did have an internal 1k bonus through the estore.

It must've been all those $1 buckets that were never picked up!

Is that the 1k bonus if you use the app?
The app is definitely easier than using a separate browser and clearing cookies after shopping (as I used to do). I do wonder how much more data they’re able to collect on us via the app vs a regular browser though.
