Christmas in the UK

Our base in London is Forest Hill, and we have been travelling to/from this station for 2 weeks already, so I thought I should record it for posterity.

The overground service is a mix of London Overground from West Croydon or Crystal Palace up through East London to Highbury, the home of coughnal. It connects with the Elizabeth line at Whitechapel, so is a very good service.

Then there are Southern trains doing a loop between London Bridge and Victoria via Crystal Palace that provide a very comfortable ride. Connections at London Bridge are very good, with a platform swap taking us across the river into Charing Cross for Trafalgar square, Covent Garden and the theatre district.

Oh to be in England at Xmas.
"
The Christmas getaway has been thrown into chaos after Storm Pia brought the transport network to a standstill on Thursday.

All trains going north from London Euston were cancelled for three hours and those from King’s Cross were delayed.

Eurostar and Channel Tunnel services were also cancelled after a sudden strike by French workers, and passengers waiting for ferries at Dover faced 90-minute delays.

British Airways was forced to make changes to its flight schedule after air traffic control restrictions in response to the storm, which brought winds of up to 115mph.

The disruption raised fears that Friday, which is already set to be the busiest day on the roads, will be miserable after passengers unable to travel on Thursday were forced to delay their journeys or drive instead."

Isn't that funny. A local told us today would be quiet as everyone would be drinking.

Gosh! “Christmas Day is also set to be the hottest in years with parts of the UK expected to hit 14C.”
Think it's going to be 12 here today in Sleaford. Quite balmy really 😂. It was the coldest Christmas Day in Adelaide I think for 17 years.
