Christmas Island. (AFF community report)

I don’t know if the CI club is still operating, but I do remember that as a way to keep out pretty much anybody but white people, the club made the income requirement to join so high only one person could join who was not European, and that was the chief of police.
The state of the CI when I went in 2018.
A pity in some ways, as you can see the views. Probably the downside of trying to make it 'exclusive'. But, I'll have to take MrsK as she hasn't seen the place.
Next question, what's happened to the Casino?

We’ll, my 4th visit to Christmas Island is coming to an end. Covid meant it took 3 attempts to get here and it was even easier to make a trip to USA in April 2022, than enter here. But there is something special about this place.…Something about the remoteness, the people and the island way of life.

Perhaps I’m just over the Victorian rat race and rules & regulations, but this place needs to be on every adventurers list.

…and the outdoor cinema is still only $5 per adult.

Out of interest, I checked and could not find Va awards Per-Xch all of Nov this year. :(

I believe there are no longer award seats assigned to this route. I also believe that this route is excluded from the guaranteed award seats for Gold or Platinum members.
Agree. Couldn’t get any last time I visited. Told ‘none available’

For the rego plate collectors: I think the pictorial plates must've come later. I have some of the blue ones.

There are some plates in collectors hands, I have 2 white on blue and one “road kill” graphic, i.e., well used!
I know of a few “A” plates, not many though. Apparently they were easy to get once, now quite difficult. Cocos and Keeling even more difficult. If you know of any that may have fallen off the back of a truck, please let me know. :)

Over the past few years I have 2 friends go there in an official capacity and tried to get plates for me without success.
