Just arrived into Dubai. Excellent service from the crew and told the purser that. And a great flight.

I’d picked the window seats for both of us so a row apart. MrP didn’t quite understand what I meant by that until he got onboard. The furnishings seem so new.

Plenty of side storage space. Huge TV.

The Amenity kit is packed with goodies. But NO PJ’s anymore.

This new seat belt won’t stay so pristine for long.

I chose soup which was flavorful. And turkey which was surprisingly excellent. By now it was 1am Aus time and decided to forgo desert. I’d already watched National Lampoon Christmas vacation before dinner was served.

Then had around 6 hours sleep. The beds are wonderful. And wide. And no bumpy bits to knock when lying down. Plenty of foot space and shoulder space.

Woke up with about five hours to go. Started watching India Jones. Then MrP visited and we decided to decamp to the lounge.

More Christmas stuff.

The bar crew happily obliges taking a photo of people behind the bar with a Polaroid camera. A delightful guy from Italy who lives in Dubai. The candy canes are excellent. We snaffled a few. Also had a weak G&T which I’d asked for, a coffee then a Moet. It’s only 3am Dubai time 🤷‍♀️

Sauntered back to the seats as we could see the crew taking breakfast orders. Ordered Bircher muesli and fruit and latte. The latter never arrived but first world problem. And watched a film ‘last Christmas ‘ 🥹

We flew them maybe 2016, our last one. Definitely received them then. And we had a discussion with a passenger from Melbourne in the Bar who'd not brought any PJ's at all, as he expected to be getting them onboard.

Flight from Dubai was well run by crew and landed early. Our only late flight so far was the one on Qantas from Adelaide to Melbourne. I didn't eat much this leg, just a light breakfast, soup and a cheese plate for lunch.

The plane, while still and A380 seemed to have less space. But very comfortable.

Veuve this time.

Approaching Amsterdam.

I'd organised a car to collect us and they texted about 10 minutes after landing as expected. I messaged that there was a 30 minute queue for immigration. There were just five electronic machines for Euro passports and they were badly queued as well. Driver was somewhat taken aback at the wait and so called me and kept texting me. Don't blame me for the delay! Anyway the line moved fairly steadily and we collected luggage and were at the meeting place but - the driver was nowhere to be seen even though I'd messaged her with updates. She was downstairs somewhere and parked. It was so cold, raining and we were just waiting. After about 10 minutes she showed. I'd get a taxi next time. She drove like the clappers!

Staying at a basic Holiday Inn express as accommodation is so expensive here. I think the shower is bigger than the room! But it's fine for four nights. Just one space of five hangers for clothes and that's it! So we have bundles of clothes stacked on the floor. 🤣. Arrived about 2 and room was ready so we unpacked 😂 ie stacked up the clothes and headed off for a walk. Pretty cold here. Walked around to Dam Square and to find somewhere to eat. We knew it would be dark by 4.30pm and we still weren't dressed warmly enough. Found an Italian pizza place and had a really good pizza and peroni beer for €25.

The lights were being lit up as we walked home. It was 4.45pm.
