I too have been extremely happy with my signature free for life.
though now it might be relegated to the back of my wallet just for priority pass access.

my only minor gripe, no way to check points/transaction like AMEX offer. you only get a points/statement

Agree 100% and periodic checks are time consuming but I have found points posting to be somewhat accurate - but you never really know.

I have thought that they use a dart board but it does end up pretty close on a full year basis.

Everybody just be aware changes to earn / transfer rates take effect as of midnight AEST 14/06/2017 - all transactions and transfers on 15/06/2017 will be at new rates.

I hear you CE, I have been with Citibank for decades and never have had a problem.
So I am reluctant to cancel the prestige card, we have 1 main and one sup card and have many transactions and quite a high monthly spend.
That is where the crux of it lies for me though, so many of the cards suggested here as alternatives have a monthly cap.
I will run as much of our spend through Amex from now on, but we still have a large component that I cannot do that for. the low points ratio is better than no points...but $700 fee is crazy...any suggestions?

I have been with Citibank for a decade now. I emptied out a 6 figure Citi rewards to Kris today. I intend to keep the card as other benefits may just about tip the scale to stay with Citi. I was put on half fee last year (0 fee before on Select/Prestige). So, if they offer the same half Annual Fee - I will keep it or else it will be sad to see it go.
The grandfathered Westpac Krisflyer AMEX is working out a treat now with govt spend. Also its Visa equivalent gives me 1.5Kris per $ for overseas spend, in places where we cant use the explorer.
Testing times these - end of the year might clear the muddied waters and make this landscape more clear.

Oh if only we had access to the Grandfathered cards of olde...hindsight is a wonderful thing.

If - and that's a big IF - they give me 50% annual fee rebate, I would be tempted.

The current $700 fee is hard to digest past June 15th.

My 2c

I guess CE Carls meant the Westpac Krisflyer Platinum AMEX/Visa, unless there are other grandfathered cards which were as/more rewarding.
I should confess, the reason I upgraded mine to Westpac Platinum Amex was only because of those gold nuggets you/COVE keep dropping into this AFF forum!!!!

Which cards in particular?

One more transfer left for me.

Most points went early this week, some to Asia Miles and the balance to SQ.

My renewal isn't until November, and I still have a couple of benefits to redeem.

Hopefully by then the dust will have settled and new choices will become apparent.

I went for Virgin points as the A330 business suite is readily available for coast to coast flights.

So glad I went long on the last Delta transfer a few months back making the final Citi wind up relative pain free splitting between SQ & CX.
Hard to justify keeping Prestige just for airport transfers when now last of 6 in order of use.

This is genuinely terrible but if you log in to the rewards site you can see your daily points earn from 'my points summary'. I've admittedly never been able to directly correlate this to my spend but it does add up eventually. It will be infinitely worse when they do bring in the tiered rates next week. Sadly I'm 1500 points from being able to transfer 20k points before the extended Velocity offer expires and have just done some big splurges on other card bonuses. The 20k transfer barrier is super-annoying.

All in all if you've got one of the fee for life cards they're still worth keeping as an everyday Amex backup for non govt and Opal spend, as long as you never have to talk to Citi's bottomfeeding customer care staff.
