Citi cards - major changes

Have been delaying my decision for as long as possible. Currently citi prestige with a decent amount of points. Don't travel for business, so all travel is entirely personal. We have travelled lots in the past 12 months using points and have no trips planned internationally for a while. The obvious solution is to transfer to Krisflyer or asia miles, however we are planning our first child so unlikely we will travel internationally within the next 3 years (point expiry).......This change has come at the worst time! Best to stay put and transfer eventually to Virgin or any other suggestions?!

Indeed, Citi Reward points still has a redemption rate $0.68 a point when redeeming for a travel booking. Thats a handy return, especially given the opportunity to buy the ticket and get SC instead of redeeming for FF points.
This also means that Citi Signatire has a minimum of $0.68 return for $1 spend, and then 1.5x or 2x that return depending on where used.

IMO, still one of the best Visa cards around, and if Free for Life like me, easily the best.

Think you'll find that's either $0.068 (6.8%) or $0.0068 (0.68%, most likely) - there's no way that Citi would be giving 68c of booking value for every $1 spent on the card, which would be 68% cashback (assuming 1 or earned per $1) against earning a maximum revenue of 0.8% via interchange from July. ;)

Final transfer to Krisflyer this morning.

1 point left at Citi.

Tranferrred my last batch this morning too. End of an era. Just waiting for replacement Coles cards to arrive. They had to reorder them after supps hadn't turned up after 2 weeks. No express post option.

I tried to transfer the one point as well but the system wouldn't allow an odd number.

Our bookings for the next 12 months are already covered, so i'm going to just let the dust settle until I make a move.

LOL, my account has one point left as well. It looks so lonely there...
Same here deka2, have booked all our flights for this year and next year, so I am waiting now. Although I did just sign up for a nice little Amex bonus.
Most of the visa options I have looked at have a monthly cap and then tiered points accumulation, so I am on the lookout but there's no rush.

Alt Black - despite enhancements - is still OK for KF.

AMEX: 1 pt per $
MC: 0.5 pt per $ [ATM]

With the Lowy method, one could work around with relative ease.

"... for every action... there will be a reaction..."

It will be back to (free) Signature for me by the time of renewal. There is simply no way I could justify the $700 p.a. fee.

Depends on what you consider Ok. I prefer the 2 or 3 KFF Point per $ that I gain with Amex Explorer and Edge Combo.

VISA/MC I am less worried about as I always seem to have one card or another that I am meeting qualifying spend on for sign-on bonii (and just at present that is four cards).

Don't forget, the free signature has the same earn (0.4/$) as the prestige for the majority of spend. Notwithstanding CE's comments, it's still a no-brainer for me!

AMEX Edge [which I have] is limited to supermarkets, petrol to get the bonus points.

I have not looked at Explorer yet.

All my points moved across to CX and SQ. I have definitely got value out of my Prestige utilising the 4 nights for 3 benefit as well as the airport transfers. Annual fee is not due until February 2018 so I will be holding off waiting to see what is happening in the credit card space before cancelling.

Tonight I had too few points to do a further pre-devaluation of points transfer.

I had 3,800 hit today and another 75,000 will hit tomorrow - all spend before 15th so haircut on transfer a bit unpleasent but not a disaster. Timing wasn't intentional - tripped up by a pesky QB holiday Monday.

t's been a fabulous ride - one that I used to dream about but never really believed could ever be a reality.

Because we did so well I never asked for half priced annual fees but they did that for me one year. I still remember getting threatened and I transferred every last point out of my account over to SQ. I am glad I hung up on that dude who was saying he could "review my whole account back to the beginning".

I had never even looked at Krisflyer before the more knowledgeable people posted it on the Prestige thread. Now I have to wonder how I am going to spend all the points. Thanks to all those who contributed, especially cove and CE.

Today is as memorable as the day they switched off the ATO "tap".

Vale Prestige - the ride had been pleasant.

I simply do not get how so many AFFers claim so many problems with Citibank. I have held multiple Citibank Cards over a long period - and do they ever get some usage. This morning I have reconciled and paid off May / June Statement for Prestige. 170 individual transactions for the month - which is slightly more than normal - only myself and 2 sup card holders - I cannot remember the last time I had any difficulty with any transaction

I use the card o/s regularly in any country I visit and have never ever called Citi to tell them - occasionally I get a call to ask am I in that country and are transactions bona fide - I just do not get it. And am I ever going to miss those 1 Kf pt / $1 spend - breaking my heart,

+1 don't ask them to do anything by phone and you're fine is the rule, same as in Asia - their retail business is a joke but the basic processes work

Never had any issues with Citi Australia.
Though some of their processes are a bit dated (eg some accounts need to be operated by...... fax?!)
