Citi launching new Signature card

Yes I changed the points online.
If it stay like this we can't complain too much about the $700 fee.
Do you think we could complain about the points we changed 2 citi for 1 KF ?
Do you think it will stay 1.5 citi for 1 KF ?

You probably won't get any refund for when it was 2 CR for 1 KF...

Judging by the fact they changed the accompanying text I'd hazard a guess and say it was a more permanent change as oppose to an error. I wonder when they did it...

I've never had so much fuss to get a card before!

This involved about a two week process of calls from them asking me to supply everything but my inside leg measurement.

Finally get a call on Monday to say that it's declined unless you close your Citi M/C, which was what I asked them to do at the start. "That's okay them will transfer it, your approved".

My card in a Centurian type box was left on my doorstep this morning.
Next, I guess will be a battle to get the sign-up points?

Just talked with a very helpful Citi person and I have made my new card a Kris points earner to replace the Westpac Visa card that is now a dud.

Doesn't it automatically give you that option, along with Asia miles and Velocity, unless you "opt in" to QF and pay an additional fee?

Yes I think you are correct but I have had my Kris Flyer number loaded to allow for monthly transfers because their product is so good for our needs.
Mrscove has opted in for QF points by paying an extra $49.

The Citi Select card earns 2 Citi points per dollar and the transfer rate to Krisflyer is now 1.5 : 1.

By my calculations that means 1.33 Krisflyer points per dollar spent unlimited on a Visa card.

This Visa card is by far and away the best point scorer in the market.

Kris is also my preferred program, however I currently have a decent number of points there so I'll park my points in Citipoints (Amex style) untill I need them or a decent transfer promo comes along, due to the 3 year expiry!

Yes I thought about that but I prefer having them sitting snugly in SQ rather than C as we travel a lot on points. C's financial position is recovering slowly after a near death experience during the GFC so I will stay with snugly!
I felt a bit short after a flurry of redemptions and I do love pouncing the moment I see the flight opportunity that is suitable.
We are trying to have roughly about the same quantity of SQ and QF points so we can go out on one and if necessary come home on the other. Often I see no availability at reasonable rates on QF coming out of Los Angeles so we go SQ to get home.

I agree and am inclined to go "Select". I am also inclined to avoid the QF connection so that I build Citi reward points until I am ready to transfer, to SQ. Dont need CX and definitely not Virgin.

The Amex platinum card with 60k reward points cost $299 (with $49 QF link) and additional cards cost $$$. For additional $400, Select has no cap, free additional cards.

As I already have PP, I wonder if, on request, the comp card can be in someone else's name.

I enquired about this and was told that "as you already have PP, they won't send another card and that it can only be issued in the name of the Citi card holder".
I'll wait and see what happens?

I also asked if I can receive the 60k QF promo points without leaving the Citi rewards program and was told that I will receive them as Citi points if I haven't registered for QF program!

It's not how I read it, but that equals 79800 KF points so i'm not complaining :)

Citi told me too that PP card would be issued to primary cardholder only, not supplementary cardholder(s). Even if we didnt tell Citi, PP is processed in HKG and they, PP, will have on record that their card has already been issued (thru say AMEX).

Now, I will ask AMEX if they could arrange to issue PP card to a supplementary cardholder.

The plus with Citi's PP arrangement is that a guest is also allowed without having to pay $$$ whereas PP thru AMEX is for cardholder only. Guest(s) pay $$$.

I don't know how/why you are being offered 60k reward points. I understood those points are being issued to platinum card applicants only under current promo.

Citi Select, "Signature" have just sent me a bottle of Veuve Cliquot to promote their new CitiSelect restaurants (5 X points) in our favourite restaurants. Sepia, Buon Ricordo, Tetsuya, Doyles etc.
Very nice suprise to have a bottle of Veuve arrive just as I arrived home from work
Cheers dears :)

I can beat that, I applied with just under 90 seconds to spare

As some earlier posters have noted, the approval process was relatively painful compared to other cards I've had over the years, but all done now. Now it's just a matter of waiting for those juicy bonus points (and hoping the news about transfer to SQ at $1 = 1.33 pts holds true).

Not to dredge too old a topic but I thought I would say a few things for the Pros of this card.As has been mentioned, the unlimited points are a big bonus. Yes, there is the steep annual fee but all in all, it's relatively good value. I can boat through the card with usual interest rates applying NOT cash advances. This is very important to me as all of our guys get paid every week through this and this is a major factor in my decision... PP is also a good bonus, not that I'm sure how I'll use it as I have DJ membership but I'm sure it will help in our upcoming OS jaunt. One thing, what is the Mr&MrsSmith membership - I've never heard it but I will search and see what I can find. Also, is it better transferring through DJ and booking through CB & using takeflight? I've also never heard of this but will search and see what I can find.

with it now being $395/yr, 1.5pts/$ domestic, 4pts/$ international, but only 2 free pp lounge visits/yr (no free guests), is it better and worth it? don't know if the 50k pt signing bonus is still valid

Yes, if you are a Citigold member, your membership fee for the signature card is halved, this makes it very attractive indeed.

It seems to me that the Select offering, discussed in this thread, and the new Signature card, are actually two different product offerings. The price has less, but so have the features of the card. I suspect (but we'll find out later), that the Select card will remain as a premium offering above the Signature card.

So with this new Signature card what's the conversion for international spend to QF or VA??

[h=2]can citigold members also get the annual fee of $395 on the Citi new Signature card halved or is it just the select visa card that's halved to $350 allowed?[/h]
