Citibank Dining - Free Wine Offer

Do I have to pay with CB? I was going to hand over my Amex card and QF card...;)

If you want the free bottle of wine you MUST pay with the CB card. If fact, you need to tell them up front as there is no choice on the wine (other than red or white); you get the brand that CB have specified. If you order your own choice you will have to pay for it.

...in my experience the staff there get pretty narky when you ask for the free bottle in the first place....
That is why I have downloaded a screenshot of the offer onto my phone, including one that shows that restaurant is participating in the offer...

If you have an iPhone CitiBank have an app which is able to search for all participating restaurants. I have actually never had an issue with this, and where I ate last week it was actually published at the bottom of the menu with the offer, but at other places it is just through noticing the sticker on the door or knowing it is a participating restaurant.

The interesting thing in the terms and conditions is that yes you have to pay with your card, but it is also meant to only be for people who are part of Citibank rewards, not QFF rewards but there is no way for a restaurant to know which you are a part of.

As I am going to be cancelling my platinum card due to the reductions in QFF point earning (which I have PM'd the Citibank rep about but haven't heard anything back) someone said you can still get this offer with a debit card through Citibank but I couldn't find this anywhere on there website, it doesn't state which Citi cards are valid and which aren't, does anyone know?

There's the Citibank Plus acccount (Visa debit card) that can be used for the free wine offer.

As JV advised, you must pay with your CB card. The waiter specifically told me the wine is complimentary if and only if I pay with CB. When the bill arrived there is a note attached mentioning the CB offer (so maybe the cashier would be on notice if I opted to use an alternate card).

When the bill arrived tonite, there was no mention of the wine (given quite a nice McLaren Vale red when I showed the Citibank Visa) on the bill, and nothing to suggest that payment with above card was necessary, so I just handed over my AMEX and QF card ;)...I'm bad....

Are the 3 bonus points per dollar automatic, or do they post later than the regular points? Is there anyway of telling if these bonus points have registered other than waiting for the monthly statement?

You see it in the same monthly cycle as your regular points. There's breakdown of what the normal points are and what were the bonus ones.

Went to Ezards in Melbourne wednesday night. Asked maitre'd on way in about wine offer. No problem. Immediately after sitting down waitress came over with choice of wines. Ordered the white which was a fabulous 2006 Riesling. Food was delicious as ever. Thanks Citibank.

Went to Firefly in Brisbane and as soon as I mentioned the citibank offer..the wines were offered to me without any problem.

I often use the entertainment book/card so getting 25% off on a fiarly expsnweive meal sometimes would work out the same as a free bottle of wine. Unless you can use them together but I think i would be pushing my luck!

that being said, I havent tried the citibank offer yet, will do hopefully soon!!!

hopefully it hasnbt expired or have too many problems with places saying "oh its expired" or "we arent part of the group anymore"
or some other excuse

I have had no problems with this offer at restaurants in Brisbane.. Cicada, firefly, urbane etc...all good with this offer.

Seamstress in melbourne a week ago I was told the offer is no longer available (even though it is listed on the CB website). The first staffmember i asked looked puzzled who then asked his manager who replied saying like they had opted out.

Can somebody please advise when does the reward point earn reduction come into effect with CB plat?

If I had gone to a restaurant and was expecting the free wine offer, and found that they had "opted out", then I would probably also opt out, and leave.

Try ringing Cticbank and complain; my experience is that they will offer you more bonus points than you would have received to compensate for your inconvenience. Ask and ye shall receive!

Quick question. I'm a Citi Platinum member. I get 1.25 points on local spend and 3 Bonus points for spending with Citibank Bonus Partners (Im assuming this is dining partners?). So should I be getting 3 points per $ spent on their Dining partners or 4.25 points spend per $?

Thanks as my statement came and it doesn't add up.

You should be getting 4.25 altogether.

When calculating points on your statement, the cents don't count so effectively you round down.

Thanks. Then it definetly doesn't add up. A lot less. I'll contact Citi and see what they have to say.
