Citibank Plus - No Fee No Overseas Transaction Fee Account

Sometimes rolled in.
But I have found some US machines that disclose a fee (for cards of a different bank) but then don't actually charge it to foreign cards

Are you sure it wasn't passed on?

After reading this thread I thought I, too, had got lucky. Looking at my account in the app I could see my withdrawal and 0.00 transaction fee. However, the fee was rolled into the withdrawal amount.

In India (and Myanmar if memory serves me right) it wasn't rolled in.

Has anyone got experience with ATM's in Malawi and Uganda?

A Google search indicated that MasterCard is not accepted/used in either country, I recommended the Citi Plus Visa to my daughter - but forgot about the recent change to MasterCard.

Anyone have first hand knowledge to confirm it will be of no use?

Probably a dumb question but... can someone please confirm there isn't an international transaction fee charged for online purchases from an offshore merchant either? Their mention of 'in-store' has raised doubt.

1. Citibank Australia does not charge Citibank Plus everyday account holders a fee when they withdraw funds from an international ATM or use their Citibank Debit Card to make in-store purchases overseas. Customers may be charged by the third party provider, which Citibank Australia does not control.

MasterCard was accepted ok in a reasonable number of ATM's in both country's

Have you read their Schedule of Fees and Charges (Adobe PDF, 189 KB), more specific, "Local & International Payments and Foreign Currency Services" section in that PDS? The answer to your question is very clear right there.

Have the exchange rates on this account changed much since it switched from being a visa to being a MasterCard? Assuming that it's much the same and still quite close to the market midpoint?

Just happen to be overseas at the moment. I have used both Citibank debit card and Bankwest CC for ATM cash withdrawal (both are mastercards). What I have noticed is that the Citibank Plus Card gives me a more inferior rate compared to the Bankwest CC at "regular" ATMs (both also inferior compared to xe rates). However, the rate is better when I use my Citibank debit card at a Citibank ATM. Don't use the debit card for purchases ... so can't comment.

Thanks Chicken, yes I did look at that - and it is clear.
My question came about when I then looked at the terms and conditions I quoted, note 1 where it specifies no conversion fees on foreign ATM's and in-store transactions - this is also clear.

Adding the two statements together makes it not very clear to me

I only look at the fee schedule, and this specific account is exclueded from all of those fees in the fee schedule.

I can confirm that I wasn't charged conversion fees on my withdrawals

Edit: sorry just realised you guys are discussing online purchases

by how much?

(both also inferior compared to xe rates).
its doesnt verify anything comparing to XE rates, or google or whoever is publishing a live rate. You need to compare to the published Mastercard daily rate, and nothing else. the exchange rate can swing quite a bit during the day.

However, the rate is better when I use my Citibank debit card at a Citibank ATM.
If you are still comparing to XE live rate, there is no way you can know if the rate was better.
a lot will also depend on when the relevant bank actually processes the transacton through the system. Some of this is explained quite well on the Mastercard daily rate website.

Just got my mastercard with the visa expiring - noticed absolutely no reference to overseas free transactions. Given they detailed just about every other feature and benefit from free wine to hotel discounts, I'm worried this may be telling

There are no changes to the bank fees. There will be small changes due to ising mastercarf rates vs Visa rates, bit thatis all.

Understood, but Citi used to make a big noise about it being fee free for overseas transactions, so I'm wondering if 'unpublishing' it is the beginning of the end.

Yes X I just activated my new MasterCard. I knew they were switching but I don't know why.

If Citibank changed the fees on this product they would have to tell you first and there would be an even bigger noise. Don't worry about it.

Can someone confirm you can draw money out of overseas ATM with new Citi debit MasterCard?
How different are rates?
Still no international fee?
What about refund of ATM fees?

I have not analysed rates, but it's the same as the Visa. Fee free from Citibank's end. If the ATM operator imposes a fee, you pay it. It's pretty easy to avoid that as you just have to find a bank owned ATM in a lot of cases.
