Citibank Plus - No Fee No Overseas Transaction Fee Account

Can those who used cards overseas around 15-Dec or later please check statements.

Report on Whirlpool from a withdrawal from ANZ machine in Auckland that appears to have a 3℅ margin built in.
(AUD/NZD over this period was in a very narrow range around 1.04. Format is consistent with my prior Citi statements)

Will check later today for the actual number but one I checked this morning looked close AUD to IDR mid Dec. Did you compare to the wholesale visa rate?

I have assessed six ATM withdrawls and they ranged from 0.3% below the wholesale rate to 0.46% above the wholesale rate for the day (according to https://www.visa.com.au/travel-with-visa/exchange-rate-calculator.html).

In one of the transactions, I was charged an ATM fee by the operator (not by citibank) and it didn't show in the transaction text but was in the transaction total. Any chance they were charged an operator fee by the ANZ ATM in NZ?

ANZ ATMS have charged fees in every country I have seen them, but they do warn first. Wonder if this person missed the warning. Seems infinitely more likely than Visa or Citi thinking they can subtly slip in a margin without updating their T+Cs.

Post said machine said a NZ$2 fee (but in my experience many foreign machines say that but don't actually charge for a foreign card)
But even using that Visa page you posted.

On 15Dec NZ$602 = A$580.74, which is still about 2℅ away from what was charged

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

How does the citibank exchange rate compared to the rate offered by kvb cough lun? Apparently they provide the best rate in Melb for HKD

Whilst I am not familiar with KVB Kumlun I have found Citi forex rates to be about as good as they come.

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

And sorry I forgot to ask, still, am I able to withdraw a large lump sum at a Citibank branch in HK as the ATM limits are quite low.

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

Citibank forex via their Citibank Plus Visa card in ATM's are pretty much as good as it gets. But they dont do cash transactions at branches these days. Best for cash exchanges AFAIK is United Currency at Flinders or Swanston st in Melbourne.

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

I dont think KVB or United will be as good as an ATM withdrawal from citibank plus tho. The latter uses pretty much the interbank rate (Visa rate without any surcharge)

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

Just used the Citibank debit around Chile and Argentina and continuing very good FX rate ... BUT for cash withdrawals, the fee was always around A$6-A$9. Citibank in Chile trades as or with Banco Edwards; I didn't get to try their ATMs.

I wonder if its a local law that banks can/need to charge a fee on foreign cards?

Depends how much cash you need also.

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

Very true. Any way to get citi to increase the cash limit? I've never tried but the $1k thing does stick me at times.

Call them and ask?

I'm not so invested in it that it's worth the time, TBH! It's mostly when I am transiting SIN but won't have enough time in the destination to pay something cash only.

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

Just getting an update to the card and the spreadsheet with ATM fees was handy.

Interestingly, I've been charged a fee at the ATM but Citibank has not passed it on. The worst time was MGM grand casino in LAS where there was a $8USD ATM fee for a $300USD withdrawal. But on my transaction history (via their great app), it was only $300USD.

Has anyone else seen this?

Cheers.

I've had this in India.

Had this elsewhere in the US but the ATM I used (couldn't tell you what brand) was not Citi branded, but was on the Citi ATM locator (website, i think).

Are you sure it wasn't passed on?

After reading this thread I thought I, too, had got lucky. Looking at my account in the app I could see my withdrawal and 0.00 transaction fee. However, the fee was rolled into the withdrawal amount.

This is the case. Charged CAD 3 to withdraw cash from the ATM at Yyz airport the other day....charged 0.00 transaction fee but the withdrawal fee was rolled into the withdrawal amount :(
