Citibank Price Match Guarantee

Thanks for clarifying, did your chap hint at any future replacements for PMG?

All the takeflight search options look incredibly dear...

I was speaking with a chap from Pinpoint this week, and he informed me that the Citi Price Match Guarantee was scheduled to end this Wednesday - April 3rd, 2013.

What a shame as it was one of the best benefits of using your Citi points as apposed to the x10 amount you would via their own Travel service. Guess Ill just transfer my points over to KF and be done with it.

Thinking of booking a flight on premium economy for August by Wednesday, but uncertain on the dates of travel.

Anyone know whether booked tickets can be cancelled?

Bad bad news

Just got this:

Dear Frank
Citibank no longer offer the Price Match Guarantee, however the Citibank
Travel Program still offers excellent value and flexibility, allowing
customers to use their points, pay with their Citibank credit card, or use
a combination of both to book flights, accommodation, travel packages,
cruises and much more.
Thanks and kind regards

I thought PMG stops on Wed?

Now what am I going to do to get some value from my points :(

That is bad news (Guess they thought there might be a run on it now the cat was out of the bag and ended it early), and "excellent value" from their own program is a joke as you would not have needed to PriceMatch in the first place if it was excellent value (192,000 J Class QF Classic USA vs Citi near 900,000 points for the same).

You best option would be IMO to transfer your points over to KF with SQ as that currently offers the best value (unless Citi water down that to) for airline travel. A shame really

nooooooo.... bring it back yo!

Our only chance now is for our swinging brothers with citigold banking reps to plead for PMG restoration

Very sad to see this one go, however not surprised given how much benefit it provided... was one of those "too good to be true benefits" which provided extreme value whilst it existed.

Will be thoroughly reconsidering renewing my Select card when membership is due given the recent changes.

I agree that the $700 renewal looking less and less like good value - have now lost ATO, bonus points for dining and PMG in a matter of months. Oh, and they also told me when I mentioned the ATO that insurance policies would no longer attract points either. Have stated my unhappiness with all of the above, especially PMG after...

Rang Citi Travel today to see if I could make PMG booking before Wed - was told they had a memo stating it actually finished on March 28 - thanks for the notice. So my points have essentially lost 1/3 of their value based on a Qantas price match vs points conversion to Virgin/Singapore. Shows lack of respect for their customers to pull it in this way.

Funny how they claim that PMG has ceased but have not updated their website to reflect this change especially if it really did stop on the 28th of March. Anyway guess these points are going to VA or KF. Lucky I got a booking through for MEL - PER a week ago.

I sent a request on April 1 (no foolin) for a MEL-SYD flight only to have the standard response email come back to say that this is no longer offered. Sent them a screen shot of the PMG page but not holding my breath...

If they have a statement on their website saying there is a PMG and do not honor it, I'd almost say that's misleading advertising. The terms of the PMG do say that it can be removed at any time without notice (I've previously requested a copy), however if they have pulled it they have a responsibility to remove any statement claiming there is a Citibank PMG.

The new high handedness of Citibank where they choose to cut something with no regard to a card holders year is pretty amazing.
Just because I can make these 2 cards work doesn't mean everyone else can so don't be afraid to cancel if the value has vanished for you. Like Cruiser Elite I am there for the SQ points and Mrscove is there for the QF points.

That's my take on it as well. No email response from them so we'll see what happens but I'm not overally confident of a positive outcome. Will keep you all posted on how things pan out!

I hope they honor what is (still) stated on their own website!

Will be intrigued if they even respond without a "we are just the middle man, call Citibank and complain"

This is what I'm expecting to get back from them as well as something along the lines of, "the process/system has been disabled so we can't proceed even if we wanted to..."

Logged into Citi account 6AM and PMG link was still active in the travel program section. Just checked again and link has disappeared.

PMG must be done and dusted !

Well blow me down, just got a call from Pinpoint and they have processed my request for PMG. Just received the PNR and confirmed that it is visible on the Manage My Bookings on the Qantas website :O

Didn't ask them about PMG continuing but given blessed11 comments above I might have been extremely lucky!!!

Just rang Citibank and found out the PMG was discontinued start of April... which prompted for a search for this thread....

Now that i've missed the chance to use my points... and i travel frequently from PER to KUL/SIN/HKG, mainly around the Asian region, what would AFF'ers recommend transferring points to?

I know several members mentioned Krisflyer.... how about Asia Miles for Cathay Pacific? Does anyone know if that is "supported"?

Thanks in advance!
