Citibank Signature 80k QFF signup bonus $299+$49, ends 31/03/14 [Extended - 31/05/14]

Applied online at 10.30am today for this card, and received email confirmation at 7pm that it has been approved and the card will be with me shortly. Very painless procedure.

Currently engaged in serious dialogue with Citibank re my application - card already approved and appears online - they are saying 60K bonus pts- I say NO NO NO 80K as per web site - they cannot access that link - they will not accept email from me to give them exact link - I tried spelling it out - its like a mile long.

Have sent off details to Citigold RM in Camberwell Branch - she will follow up. Early indications that my Citibank Credit Card Application was going to proceed without a hiccup now squarely dispelled - WELCOME TO CITIBANK!

Was wondering if this might happen. I have taken screen dump of web page and printed it as well in anticipation.
Also appears that one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. I was approved on Friday, status on the website is showing approved, yet I received an email and sms today asking for proof of identity ( which has already been provided).

I experienced the same today despite providing all requested info last Friday. I know the application is being processed as there were 2 alerts on my veda file over the weekend and they called my HR unit today.

Be weary to ensure that that's 80k QFF points and not 60k Citi points, which is their other promotion.

Needless to say, i'm unsurprised about the troubles.

Applied yesterday afternoon and was conditionally approved within the hour. Got a call to confirm some details about two hours after the application was submitted, and was advised I didn't need to provide any further details and a card would be in the mail in 3-4 working days.

Just received another email with a different application reference number saying that I am conditionally approved for a PLATINUM CARD (their caps). Needless to say that card is going straight into the bin unless the original 80K QFF offer is honoured (which is slim to none).

I received the card yesterday but will not activate until the 80K QF pts matter is resolved. I have passed on the link to a Citibank RM in Camberwell (VIC) branch - I am sure she will clarify the situation rather quickly - useless trying to do it over the phone with MNL call centre staff - will post when I know more.

Edit - Just got off phone with RM and she informs me YES Citibank will indeed honour the 80K QFF pts promo - now to activate and spend. I hope you other applicants also receive the 80K - keep us informed pls.

Further Edit - Card activated but was told automatically enrolled in Citibank Rewards program - you have to ask them to add your QFF number to opt into Qantas Rewards program - they will read you a whole spiel - then you agree - done - but if you don't do this it will be Citibank Rewards program you will be in.

Supplementary Further Post - Just received second phone call from Citibank - this time from MNL call centre - again advising me that YES I am correct and indeed I will receive 80K pts and not 60K - WOW - Citibank and excellent Customer Service - now there is a first!

Great news Cruiser Elite, and thanks for the update. I hope for the same outcome. Card hasn't arrived as yet, but I won't be activating it until I also get confirmation of the QFF bonus points.

Do you not have to make a purchase with the card before you get credited with the 80k? I thought that was the deal.

And onto the next exciting episode of "Citibank the Magnificent" - just received phone call from Citibank RM:

RM: Cruiser just following up on our discussion yesterday regarding your new Signature Card - I hope you have not used it as yet.
Me: Well YES actually I did use it 1hr ago.
RM: Oh well Citibank will be issuing you a brand new card
Me: Why?
RM: Just to make sure there are no issues with the 80K QFF pts
Me: So I cancel this existing card? Will the $299 Annual Fee and $49 QR Fee appear? Do I just pay off the $29 I spent this morning? Do I pay off total amount?
RM: Can I get back to you on those matters?
Me: Oh yes please do - I eagerly await your response

Now who was the clown who said this process was going to be easy?

RM calls back and advises please just pay amount spent today and we will close this card with no fees appearing - done.

Then received this email: Thank you for taking the time to apply for a Citibank SIGNATURE CARD. We are pleased to advise that your recent application for a Citibank SIGNATURE CARD has been conditionally approved. Your application is currently being processed and your Application Reference Number is 2014xx_xx_ - totally different number to previous successful application - never a dull moment with Citibank huh?
