That reminds me actually. My flight on QF63 was also delayed (left Sydney late due to poor weather and apparently heaps of people stuck in customs) and they actually made a lengthy announcement saying that they were rebooking people on South Africa airway flights who were going to miss their connections. And when we landed they asked us to give way to passengers making connecting flights who were no doubt quite stressed (and possibly not with airlines aligned with QF).

Qantas seems quite good with sorting out these problems as long as you are on another Qantas flight or same booking. Anyone flying to Canberra had already been changed to the 8:30pm flight and they read out a long list of changes on the plane - these included holding the fight to Auckland and some overnights in Melbourne and Brisbane. One Mum and her daughter had got themselves into a bit of a problem. They had been told in Johannesburg that they wouldn't make the Auckland flight, so they had only booked their luggage through to Sydney - the CSM was trying to sort things out for them but I am not sure what happened. Shows trying to be organised can be a bad thing.....

Hope you managed to get home FM. It does become a little tedious sitting in the lounge after w while, especially when you would just like to get on that last flight!
We had a London flight once that was delayed as they sent planes to Lebanon to get people out. Like you had, they read out a long list of flight changes for people connecting but we weren't on the list. They got quite a shock when we gave them our flight number which was about 3 hours before the ones they had. They then booked us on the next available flight to Glasgow and rushed us through the airport to make it.
PS I loved the Victoria Falls TR!
