Coles gift card offers

How long do people normally wait to contact Flybuys when something hasn't tracked

The only way I know of getting a discount on these is to buy them in Myer using an Amex with a targeted offer
Or use eftpos/credit cards bought at Woolies to purchase these. Although that would get you a discount, it's still the same disocunt you'd get if you used those cards directly at the business.

Restaurant Choice gift cards can be used at “Eating Places and Restaurants (5812), Hotels, Caterers (5811), Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages), Bars, Taverns, coughtail lounges, Nightclubs and Discotheques (5813) Fast Food Restaurants (5814) Motels & Resorts, Central Merchant (7011), Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals, and Fortune Tellers (7996).”

But I found it difficult to use up the small balance I had on one. The restaurant had a card surcharge so some math was needed while standing at the register doing a split transaction.
Ya it s a pain to get ride of the balance. Need to find a place that accept prepaid, that is okayt to split pay, and ideally with no card surcharge.

Would it best and easier to just buy enough value gift cards that will cover less than your anticipated restaurant bill then credit card the rest?

Thinking of buying a couple.

And then also account for the surcharge; paying a $120 bill with a $100 gift card, if surcharge is 1.5% then splitting up the bill to $98.52 from the gift card. Messy, but

I found that some places don’t split the bill by $$ amount and only by items, so trying to add items to the $98.52 (or whatever) was impossible

So the remaining $21.48 you just by with credit card. I'd say that's the norm in other instances. I've not come across this scenario to cause an issue. Pay with gift card & top up with credit card the shortfall.

Yes $1.5 lost is surcharge.

I find that odd, they only accept one payment transaction. Basically forcing to have a remaining balance on a guy card.
But for a $150 order total could you use 2 x $100 gift cards? Cos that would be 2 transactions anyway.

Gift cards are just not worth the hassle sometimes IMO.
I like a generic card, ideally 10% off (come on Coles vanilla) where it is easy to dump any residual balance on your health insurance or similar.

Yes but the first transaction, to avoid a residual balance would need to be $100 less the surcharge. So you need to wait until you know what that is then do the math while paying. It's do-able but a PITA, especially if you have a relatively small amount left on the card from the last time you used it (so you need to keep track of that too).

I haven't come across this with other types of prepaid visa cards like vanilla.

Worthwhile checking exactly which restaurants still accept the card. Given one as a gift last Xmas and found most locations were at the top of the scale for menu price, predominantly in the CBD and only 2 (ex-CBD) that would see us out for under $150 without alcohol.

If its for a restaurant you frequent then go for it, otherwise buyer beware.

Checking the balance at the restaurant is not possible (we were told by two different restaurants). Once when the card was not used & we thought we'd like to make sure it had been activated successfully, and the second time when we went to use up the balance. Turned out our memories were better than we thought (luckily) as the cashier was not keen to try a second amount if the first guess failed. Splitting the transaction to use up the card was no issue though as we asked before we sat down.
