Coles seem to make up their own rules based on the store and manager on duty. I’ve recently been refused service based on my attempt purchase 10x cards across mine and my brothers accounts including the staff member telling me they’d be watching out for me if I returned later on. I now make my gift card purchases at a different Coles where the staff are much nicer. I’ve also had no problems ever when purchasing cards at Woolies. Never questioned or threatened which tells me it’s not store policy but individual discretion. They said it has nothing to do with bonus and because of scams could not sell more than 5 and that’s store policy . Is this true ?
If they really wanted to, they could probably interpret the "limit 5 per flybuys account" as a hard limit - it's vague enough language. That said, Flybuys Account ≠ human so I don't think it would stand up to a lot of scrutiny. They said it has nothing to do with bonus and because of scams could not sell more than 5 and that’s store policy . Is this true ?
Nope. Wear a different hat/jacket next time is my adviceOn Tuesday my local coles refused to sell a second lot of 5 cgmc when I returned . I explained I could buy additional but would get the bonus only on 5 . They said it has nothing to do with bonus and because of scams could not sell more than 5 and that’s store policy . Is this true ?
Problem is to be blunt a lot of people who work in these stores are not real bright. They have been alerted to the fact that scammers have been asking people to send them these gift cards and then ripping them off. They have interpreted this any body who wants to buy reasonable amounts of these gift cards is a scammer.Coles seem to make up their own rules based on the store and manager on duty. This is a bona fide requirement for them to hand out over a certain threshold. Honestly, nobody should push back on this, it's an absolutely reasonable compromise, especially considering the discussion above re the fine line between someone who is being scammed and someone who is points collecting.Assistant in the checkout tonight insisted I needed an 'Are you being scammed' leaflet
