Coles gift card offers

yeah- 5 per day. i had to split it last night between uber 10% off and ultimate him $100 cards as the staff said whatever card counts towards the 5 limit.

They said it has nothing to do with bonus and because of scams could not sell more than 5 and that’s store policy . Is this true ?
Coles seem to make up their own rules based on the store and manager on duty. I’ve recently been refused service based on my attempt purchase 10x cards across mine and my brothers accounts including the staff member telling me they’d be watching out for me if I returned later on. I now make my gift card purchases at a different Coles where the staff are much nicer. I’ve also had no problems ever when purchasing cards at Woolies. Never questioned or threatened which tells me it’s not store policy but individual discretion.

If they really wanted to, they could probably interpret the "limit 5 per flybuys account" as a hard limit - it's vague enough language. That said, Flybuys Account ≠ human so I don't think it would stand up to a lot of scrutiny.

On Tuesday my local coles refused to sell a second lot of 5 cgmc when I returned . I explained I could buy additional but would get the bonus only on 5 . They said it has nothing to do with bonus and because of scams could not sell more than 5 and that’s store policy . Is this true ?
Nope. Wear a different hat/jacket next time is my advice :)

I bought more than $20K of cards over the past week of woolworths/coles credit card offerings by playing the game. IE. Not attracting attention to what I was doing!

Store specific in practice. I doubt there is an official policy but you rarely win once the bee is in the bonnet. I have often used different ends of the same store. Coles is a bit worse than WW IME

Problem is to be blunt a lot of people who work in these stores are not real bright. They have been alerted to the fact that scammers have been asking people to send them these gift cards and then ripping them off. They have interpreted this any body who wants to buy reasonable amounts of these gift cards is a scammer.

Or is being scammed .

Assistant in the checkout tonight insisted I needed an 'Are you being scammed' leaflet
This is a bona fide requirement for them to hand out over a certain threshold. Honestly, nobody should push back on this, it's an absolutely reasonable compromise, especially considering the discussion above re the fine line between someone who is being scammed and someone who is points collecting.

Woolies were great in the past week with $1000 purchases of cards

Coles I copped the leaflet once

A solid week though
120K QFF at woolies
40K VA at Coles

For those who do get leafletted, there's a nice little bit of humour in there for us, in that one of the first statements on the leaflet is something along the lines of "you can't pay the ATO with gift cards".

Sadly there are plenty of elderly victims who have tried to do so with apple gift cards so it is probably more a true than false statement for most, but it gets a chuckle.

We had a Coles here refuse to sell me 5 and my partner 5 as we were together so we were the same person 🤣
We refused to leave until we spoke to the manager or supervisor and they weren’t there at the time so just put it through
(This was during the $100 card period so there was no maximum transaction limit)

I’ve found Woolworths don’t make up random rules and BigW will happily override the transaction limit

Yeah a limit of 5 cards per account so that will probably explain it
