Just a quick question for the group regarding using the prepaid Coles Mastercards for ATO payments.

I tried to use one a few nights ago, the website gave me the typical error when you try to make payment number 6 and said the transaction couldn't be processed. Unfortunately, it to the $249.50 (but not $0.50 fee)... I checked the transaction log from the Coles prepaid website and the transaction posted to the card. Anyone have the same issue previously? Did the charge come off a few days later or is this going to be a headache for me to sort out.

Secondly, yesterday I was able to use 8 x $250 prepaid for ATO payments, I signed in multiple times throughout the day and seemed to work.
I did two just after midnight, two at 9am, three approx 6pm and one more at 10pm.
Hope that helps anyone looking to try and use more than 5 a day.

Cheers.

It's on again! 10% off $100 and $250 Coles gift Mastercards (note the recent concerns about these cards being 'hacked' - my advice is that there is now some risk with these cards. Buy and spend immediately is what I plan to do. But I'll certainly still be buying these).

I was hesitant to buy these given the hacking reports but since I have found out you can ring up and block the cards til you want to use them....of course, all the cards (esp. $250 ones) have vanished from the Coles stores I visited....but I found some $250s (~35) yesterday at a Coles store I normally don't visit. When I went back last night, they were all gone.... :(

It's pretty hard to find a 28% pa guaranteed tax-free investment for any online bills over the next 3 months (which I've largely done)
I have had no issues with hacking
(I know it's only a 7% return)

I know many don't do this as it stuffs up other Flybuy spend offers*, but I have been swiping card with the CGMC offers.

Despite the 5 per customer limit, all have landed in mrsandye's Velocity account

*I've really struggled to run my Flybuys spend/save effectively since they demanded different email addresses for each family member's card. Too hard so don't really bother

I did the same on a flybuys account that seems too far gone with offers to worry about redeeming anyway. Managed to rack up A LOT of points over the week. The activity statement certainly for interesting reading!

I rang the Coles Mastercard call centre whilst at Myers this pm, unlocked 5x $250 cards and immediately bought 2x$500 and 1x$250 Coles Myer gift cards....so almost negligible chance of the Coles Mastercard being hacked as described by some.

There's much more than a negligible chance from what I can see with this card unless you want to take the time to call to block and then call to unblock. This isn't something I'm prepared to waste my time with.

The nuber and variety of reported breaches with this card has increased signficiantly since first reported on OzBargain. There are now too many reports of the credit provider not paying out or at the very least making it difficult for you to claim a payout.

Much easier to buy and dump on the same day for me.

10 mins to block and another 10 mins to unblock so not too much effort if you have multiple cards. One compromised $250 card ruins your,$ advantage... you can buy and use immediately if you have something in mind but I don't :)

I can see them stopping the call to block/unblock thing. Given how many people are buying dozens of these cards, the call centre would be inundated and they'll get sick of it.

Not everyone would know about the scam and that you can block the card til ready to use :)
