Coles gift card offers

Re Vanilla gift cards:

Purchased a $250 Coles/Myer gift card at Liquoroland today. Had to sign. No issues.

Purchased a $250 WISH card at Woolworths today. Didn't have to sign. Payment just accepted.
Can I confirm that was at the physical shop?

Spend them now removes the fraud possibility that occured with Coles Mastercards previously. These Vanilla cards have the same vulnerability.
Ah good one. I was going to try to use a Vanilla card to buy a WOW GC at 3-5% off on the insurance portal. Not sure if it'll work but your experience gives hope.

Reports I've seen suggest this could fail. If it fails it could tie up your money for sometime whilst waiting for the refund to be issued.

It's barely worth it at $5 bonus per $100 card. But I'll do a few as I have new credit cards I need to churn.
I agree the $5 bonus associated with these isn't that great but I take a disproportionate amount of pleasure at being able to pay some of my tax at ~95c on the dollar and earning frequent flyer points on the way through.

Was it these cards that had a security flaw that left some people without funds on the cards after activating them? Wouldn’t mind taking advantage of this offer and buying a few to give to someone as a gift but I’d be awfully embarrassed to find that they don’t work when it comes time to spend them.

Yes. These have the flaw. Use them quickly is my advice.

I took similar pleasure at 1.25 miles/$ + 4.8% discount on a proportion of my BAS today
