Coles gift card offers

Made a run to my local coles just then and seems they may be managing the stock levels on the shelves. So this store had no $250 cards yesterday and then plenty this morning. I went again just after lunch and they were all out only to be overflowing again this evening. Hoping the refill is a daily occurrence.

Anyway, a good first day.

Hopefully there are still $100 cards on the shelf tomorrow and I can go back and buy them with the $250 cards I bought today.
I'm trying to get my head around the sums, but wouldn't you be better off buying $250 cards, if you can get them, instead of $100s?

If there are $250 cards available I'll be all over them - but my experience is that the $250 cards are rarely in stock after the first day of promotions like this. The stores I visited yesterday afternoon mostly just had $100 cards in stock.

My feeling is if you've invested the time to get into the shop, might as well recycle yellow to a purple or few

The main reasons I generally don’t bother with the $100 cards is because of the small profit ($5.50 per card) plus the much longer time it takes to recycle them. Buying a $250 card with a $250 card is one payment. Buying a $250 card with $100 cards requires 3 payments. I want to be in and out as fast as possible. Come the last day or two I will consider getting $100 cards to keep and use later for legitimate purposes.

EDIT: Yes I could pay for the $100 cards with my credit card but I also don’t want 10s of thousands of dollars tied up in these things at the end of it.

OZB really makes for terrific reading sometimes. In this case, in regards to outright aggression and ways to further milk value from these cards.

Couldn’t get to Coles until this morning. Yokine WA store sold out (she said they sold $24,000 worth yesterday). Managed to get some at another store. 🤗

So just one person buying them?
Post automatically merged:

Dude in front of me this morning bought five using cash.
I also saw people buying today and using cash. There's two reasons for this:

1) They don't have a credit card
2) Money laundering

Otherwise why wouldn't you just use EFTPOS?

I bet it was you Dr Ralph!
I've been modest in purchasing these this time around.

Previously I did have a ridiculously high special levy for my strata which corresponded to a substantial purchase of these cards.

This time I'm more focussed on inception. Which I expect to achieve by the end of today.

And just as an FYI, I've noticed a number of stores restock the $250 cards overnight (I suspect that they didn't put them all out yesterday).

Is the 4hour wait after activation strict on each occasion?

Even thou the website says balance of $250, won't be able to use till this 4hour window has ceased??

I haven't tried to check the balance or use sooner than 4 hours.

P

There is a countdown on the online balance site
That website has never worked for me. I just get an error message.

I use the phone number on the back of the card instead. 48 calls to that number in the past 24 hours!

i couldn't / wasn't allowed to buy another gift card with gift card I already had...... guy there told me you can't do it.

Should I have punched in card payment not gift card payment??

thanks
