Coles gift card offers

I'm just back from my local, no more hanging, had to ask service counter, they had stash there.

Disappearing like the proverbial covid toilet paper.

Need a new phone so I decided to have a look at my local Coles for 5 x $250 cards. Surprised to find quite a few in stock so I purchased 5.

Then thought I might try to recycle them a few times. Went back a few hours later after checking balance on line to ensure they were active.

Scanned a new card at the self checkout. Selected card as payment. Swiped one of the gold cards. The payment terminal then asked for a PIN. I hit enter and it said the transaction was declined. Staff then came over and told me that I cant pay for a gift card with a gift card.

What did I do wrong?

THIS: ' I hit enter and it said the transaction was declined. '

DO NOT DO THAT!

This is effectively the prompt to get you to sign for the transaction.

Instead, enter any PIN number. Just remember what it is for when you want to use the residual amount in the future.

I've churned more than 100 cards so far. Inception many many times has occured.

The T'c and C.s I read this morning in-store said gift cards cannot be used to buy gift cards.

This isn't exactly what the terms of the offer say. You might want to read them a little more closely.

In any case, I can confirm that the Coles Gift Mastercards can be used to purchase a new Coles gift Mastercard. Just follow the procedure for inception that I've outlined many times on AFF.

Inception in a discreet way (no split payments) is tiring and time consuming. You must be very dedicated to do it over 100 times.

I have read the T's and C's again more closely and have not changed my view.

I'm not. Purchases are made during my regular visits to Coles.

Even when these are bolded, some people can't be helped I guess. I suggest you take a literal interpretation, rather than a mischief or golfen rule approach.

I also just now bought some $100 with $250 cards bought earlier. I didn’t use the self check out. These are not gift cards despite what the staff say. They’re credit cards.

Must say I was buying one yellow with a yellow and putting the balance on my health insurance

I agree in principle but the packaging calls then a giftcard so you can't really blame the staff

Inception occurs at around 13 ‘rinses’ (I think - paging @MathNerd). The only thing limiting a bunch of free money is the supply.

I’m trying to decide if it’s worth doing a stack of purple cards as they’re still pretty abundant in CBR. Having a large number of them is not appealing.

Sorry good DR. I have been a little off the pace with this. I did a bit of a search but could not find what "inception" is alluding to. Can you kindly give me a link or hints please.

Search AFF for inception. You'll find many hits such as this one:

Thanks so much.

Mission accomplished. Just had to get the staff member at the self checkout to do the required swipe and permission to process each card individually.
