Coles gift card offers

Thanks for that @kerfuffle. I'll be calling Heritage again with that info.

I'll add that my card was a sealed new card, ie I had not used it nor entered my card details while checking the balance, so they must use a bot to force card acceptance - most likely at vendors that require the CVV. Without the CVV, there's only 8 numbers needed so 20 million possible combinations then just figuring out the remaining balance.

Timing. Just came here to report a hack on one of my Coles MC cards bought in the last round.

$98 charged to a $100 card by some thai massage joint at Merrylands. Only discovered this last week but the hack occurred in late August. I've reported it, but the response doesn't fill me with optimism.
Reports are that you will eventually get replacement cards in the mail

Ch 9 news is about to blab this deal to everyone so whatever cards are left won't be.

I was going to buy just enough to immediately pay my bills that don't take Amex but I am getting spooked over the hacking. Is this happening all over Australia or just in NSW (Merrylands)?

From Wednesday October 19, note the conditions (especially the 4 hour activation period):
RIP. When the 9 Sydney news runs a story that falsely claims these cards can be converted into cash or used everywhere that Mastercard is accepted, it's all over.

2 stores in Sydney strictly enforcing 5 card limit today - including one which is keeping the cards at the service desk

Mission accomplished! No $250's but I did get 5 x $100's, went directly home and paid my rates, water and power accounts. They activated immediately it seems.

My Coles gift Mastercards have definitely not activated instantly. Unable to check the balance at this time.

Update: took about an hour to activate.

All of the stores I visited this morning are displaying more this lunchtime (though I got knocked back as a revisitor at one)
