Card Offers CommBank Ultimate Awards Card: 100K award points – potentially fee free

I've recently taken up this offer, simple application process. It took approx 2 weeks from conditional approval to the card arriving so I'd get the application going asap if you want it by 21/12.
No fee if you spend $2,500/m, correct.
As with almost all cards, you want to hold onto it until the points post.

Might take up this card for the bonus points and international fee free transaction.
Heading overseas 21st December so hopefully I can get the card in time.
What are the exchange rates like, close to xe.com ?

Also want to confirm there are no Annual fees for this card, just the $35 per month if you don't spend $2,500 right?

We don't have to hold the card for a certain amount of time to get the bonus points?
No annual fee if min spend met. Bonus points arrived when my minimum spend was met.

Thanks for the reply. I applied for it just now and conditionally approved.
They are asking me to upload a lot of information which is stupid since my income goes to my CBA account. Might give them a call on Monday for a little push to try expedite it.

It was this offer that got me to apply + free insurance.. check your inbox CBA customers.

Yeah I believe so.
But the T&Cs says the following

Things you should know

  • ^ Offer available to selected customers only on new Ultimate Awards credit cards applied for between 1 Nov 2022 and 31 Dec 2022.
To be eligible for the 90,000 bonus Qantas Points on a new Ultimate Awards card, you must opt-in to Qantas Points in your CommBank credit card application or via the CommBank Awards website prior to meeting the spend criteria. You need to spend at least $5,000 on eligible purchases (excludes balance transfers, cash advances and any purchase that is reversed or refunded) using your new card within the first 90 days of activation.

Bonus points will appear on your credit card statement as ‘Bonus Awards’ within 90 days of you meeting the eligibility criteria. You will receive two separate transactions of 70,000 and 20,000 bonus Qantas points.

Cards that provide Qantas or Velocity points will generally give the points in a block each statement date. The sign up bonuses usually arrive with the statement after the spend target was reached, but occasionally it may be the statement after that (i.e. up to two months after the spend target is reached).

Cards that have their own points (e.g. Altitude points, ANZ Reward points) tend to award points as soon as each transaction is verified and the sign up bonus arrives a couple of days after the spend target is reached. Once points arrive in your balance, you can swap them for airline points - this is often immediate but can take a few days for them to arrive in the airline account.

For accounting reasons, it is not wise to use a personal credit card to pay business expenses - although people do it anyway.

Westpac, St George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne will all pay your bonus points immediately when the eligible spend has been met.

Westpac also allows instant “activation” of cards for Apple Pay so theoretically you could apply, be approved right away and activate your card on the same day. Spend will take a few days to clear so maybe 3-5 days for the bonus points to appear. That’s as close to instant as youll get.

Is that the case for Qantas points or only their own points? I am currently sitting on a Westpac card, have met the spend target and expect to get the bonus points with the first statement in the new year.

This isn't correct. But the end of the statement cycle is possible with some cards.

Sorry, but it is correct. Have done exactly this with Westpac and BankSA in the last few months.

Their own points, which can then be transferred onwards. Best for me was Westpac which had the bonus points in my Kris account 5 days after application.

So my own post at 209 was correct. We need to be clear that cards that earn airline points directly do not credit instantly.

Correct, but that’s not the question I was answering (and to be honest, you could get instant access to a million qantas points at the moment and it wouldn’t help find a seat!)

Your answer was potentially misleading. Most people signing up for Westpac right now are likely to go for the 90,000 QF points rather than Altitude points that convert to 46,666 KrisFlyer points, difficulties with redemptions notwithstanding.

Well something has changed!

I reached the threshold spend for a Westpac card on Wedneday of this week. No points yet awarded!

So I can reconfirm that the points award for Westpac cards is defintiely not instant. The points may be awarded at the end of the billing cycle but no one could reasonably call this instant.

Agree. Definitely not instant.

Well they should be. Sure you met the spend? Any government transaction does not count for Westpac. And you’re enrolled in the Altitude program? Or Qantas
