Does anyone know if paying a bill at the post office will count towards minimum spend and would you get Qantas points for it?

Aus post is. Classified as govt . Check if govt purchases qualify .
A work around is to make the retail spend on zip pay then pay zip pay with your cba card .

Looking to get this credit card. I can see that it includes international travel insurances but does it also cover domestic?

I have this card and I dont know (and dont care). The insurance PDS is on the Commbank website on the product page, so grab it and have a quick read. the index on the first page or two will give you the quick answer.

Had the card since February, called ComBank on Tuesday to advise card isn’t meeting my expectations & haven’t used the card often with low QF points earn & high monthly fee.

Wasn’t willing to offer any points, advised to downgrade card although was willing to waive the 2 monthly fee as only left $70 outstanding on card so once this has been credited, will cancel the card.

Interesting argument "not met expectations", when those factors are on fairly precise details in the product description. Thats probably why that didnt fly with them. If looking for some freebies, then one needs to find something thats not so obvious.

The product does have a couple of shortcomings for me personally:
1. Additional cards are same number, there is no way to tell which card was used for a transactions. However this will affect all Commbank credit cards. AFAIK all other banks now make additional cards a unique number and indicate this online.
2. i opted for the minimum limit of $6k which is inadequate to cover monthly spending of =>$2500. I always need to manually inject funds about 2 weeks early. This should have been obvious to me when applying so that was a bit dopey of me.

The one thing that keeps me in the game is the travel insurance, as i always buy my tickets with points. Now I have a rather large Travel insurance claim for lost luggage to make. If covermore is reasonable, then this card is definitely a keeper, if they are not, then that will be the dealbreaker.

I am puzzled by your strategy. You took a card - presumably for the sign up bonus - and have hardly used it because of the low points earn which you knew about when you took out the card. Why not just cancel the card online once you had got the sign up bonus and reset your twelve month lockout? Why wait six months? Why leave two monthly fees unpaid just so you could have an argument about getting them reimbursed?

When using the card overseas there are no international transaction fees correct? But what about the rate they give you for currency conversion? Do they rip you off there or give you a good rate?

Yes no international fee’s & you earn an increased 1.2 QF points / $$ and the conversion is very good, it works out exactly the same as the Mastercard conversion calculator.

Yes indeed you know what you’re getting upon applying for the CC but since we can’t mention the key word ‘Cancel’ & people’s circumstances change with spending habits, thought this be a good enough direction but any advice, certainly keen to know further ideas 😆

TBA wasn’t expecting an offer anyhow as it’s the only CBA account I had so ok to churn the card finally - held it for too long to cover an international trip.

All the best with your baggage claim, a situation that all seems too common recently. 😞

Haha yes it’s a low points earn for sure - .04 QF points / $$ for domestic spend (double @ supermarket / servo ) but like many, the sign up bonus is worthwhile but yes should of cancelled earlier 😂 held it for an overseas June trip planned, CBA agent was all good, no hesitation to credit $70

Will have to research more ideas next phone call as always interesting what flexibility they have to retain customers but happy to churn & burn this one.

Hah, I did the same thing (6k limit). As I'm keeping this card it wasn't inadequate as I kept on hitting the limit most months - I increased the limit separately.

My thoughts on churning are that you do it for the advertised sign up bonus, get the points and move on. I think trying to angle for compensation or extra retention incentives is dishonest, likely to draw attention and generally not comme il faut. Besides which, why would they ever pay more to retain a customer who has been with them for only a few months and barely used their product? They want ti retain the big spenders who leave large balances and pay huge monthly interest.

Is there anything to be aware of if wanting to change from Qantas rewards to Commbank awards with this card after receiving the 70,000 points sign up bonus?

Fairly easily application process for this one. Conditionally approved, uploaded 2 payslips and that’s it. Never had to speak to anyone and they never asked for other income verification (rental income).

Oddly, I never received a message or email stating that it had been approved. Went back to the application page and after 3 days it just said “completed”. Clicking on it says “your application is complete, you can see your new account on netbank”. Logged into netbank and nothing was there.

Did speak to someone at CBA to verify. They had no idea what I was talking about and said it wasn’t possible that I received such a message as the card won’t appear on netbank until activated. Also said they don’t communicate regarding approval, you just know it’s approved when the card shows up 🤷🏾‍♀️
