Complimentary credit card travel insurances - Any adequate ones?

We recently bought our airfares Brisbane -London and return using our Westpac Credit card. Yah!
And their travel insurance looks good - so far.
So this thread has been a great help. Thank you.
But I do have a question about Preexisting medical conditions.
I have recently been told I have Atrial fibrillation and am starting on blood thinners.
If , say, Westpac/Alliance don't accept the PEMC, my reading is that I am not covered for that condition. But there is coverage for other events.
Am I reading that right?
Thanks for any advice
Cheers
An interesting question is more yes you are not covered for AF but if the AF is the cause of some other condition, maybe a fall etc, than that is also not covered, depending on the medical report. Call them and discuss to be safe and sure. Most likely they will just want an extra to cover it, maybe not. But you will be covered by other eventualities.

I have read this thread, and I don't see the question I have being asked/answered.

We (Mrs Ninnypoo and I) will spend 3.5 weeks in the USA soon. I have booked the outbound flight on my card (American Express elevate premium credit card). In the past I have always booked extra insurance when in the USA (Last trip Jan 2023).

We intend to do Plane/Train/Automobile with a small side trip into Canada.

I know from the past, Rental Excess was covered, but it appears not to be now from reading the thread.

Has anyone else used this card in the US and felt it met their needs , and especially if you had medical needs or public liability. I am not so worried on losing cash or luggage.

We are late 50s. We also know one medical condition will not be covered by any insurer.

Thanks

You’ll need to check the policy to see the score on rental excess. some policies cover it and some don’t. Never been concerned about the level of cover for the United States with credit card insurance. Generally, the medical cover is unlimited and public liability can run into a million or more for your cover. ANZ covers you for 3 million for example.

obviously, if somebody is going to sue you for $100 million, your insurance probably won’t cover it! But I’m not sure if there’s any policy out there that will?

Depends on the specific card. Have a read of the T&Cs. Amex have dropped rental excess from all but specific platinum cards it seems. For medical, I’d consider a seperate policy. Many to chose from, see AFF threads.

Oh yes. I see that particular AMEX card seems to cap medical at 2.5 million? Compared with ANZ for example that’s 20 million! (I figure if i need more than $20m hospital medical insurance i probably have more to worry about than paying the bill!!)

Never underestimate the medical/hospital fees in the USA.

But still… $600k - or about a million AU. Do we really need cover in excess of 20 million?
I had a friend who suffered a heart attach at Lima airport. She spent the next 2+ years in a coma in various Peruvian hospitals before passing away without regaining consciousness. The hospital and medical bills were astronomical.

Not sure how long he was in hospital in Florida but imagine how much the costs would be if you are in a US hospital for two years or more...
