Complimentary Partner Gold Membership is now for a "family member or friend"

As noted in the Silver thread, an email should be out tomorrow. Presumably they wanted to implement the changes before announcing them, so perhaps they’ll be effective immediately.

It does make a bit more sense being 2400 SC’s though, just double Platinum (requal level). I can’t wait to hear what the benefits will be instead of PG, even though I’m miles away and probably will be for the foreseeable future.

Well it made sense that PG was 700 SC more than WP Qualifying; the same SC required to earn SG. I was 290 short when I rolled over last week.

Status said 2100 required for PG. Will check now to see if new wording is there.

I'd just like to remind you all that I consider each and every one of you a dear friend of mine*

*Must be WP and able to reach 2100SC before May 3

I suppose that makes sense for a first time qualification, every other year would be 1200 though, and if they’re going to roll out other benefits, for a higher SC count, hopefully they’ll be much better.

Anyone want to start guessing other offers you could get? I’m gonna start the ball rolling with a higher status bonus, maybe 150% or 200% on miles flown :p

I am wondering how long before we start to see Gold memberships for sale on Ebay etc, not sure if its a good move, regardless my PG is going to my partner, simply because we need the guest spots for a family trip OS.

(very limited) Complimentary upgrades like those of AA?

I’m not sure if the majority of people that make it to WP+ (2400SC’s either way) are cunning enough, or the type of people to want to sell Gold memberships online… perhaps to friends, but that wont be a public thing.

Ahh… well I think QF might amend their T&C’s if they see this going on and start cancelling memberships. They seem to me to be like they’d be a bit more pro-active at not letting that happen, but we’ll see soon hopefully anyway.

I hope so, its against the rules of the IHG program but it sill happens and I would not like to see the QF program go the same way, the lounges are hardly empty as it is.

My year rolls over on 30 September. It now has the new wording but gives me until 30 September 2011 to achieve 2100 SC.

I’d imagine it’ll go the same way the points expiry of 3 years/18 months happened, depending on when you earn and such.

Additional Status credits required by 30 Sep 2011 to receive
complimentary Gold membership for a family member or friend: 2,090

Well it's now been reverted (on my page) back to what was always showing:

Additional Status credits required by XX 2011 to receive
complimentary 'Partner Gold' membership:

This morning it was showing the same text as you mentioned.

I have a 30 Sep status renewal so I have 10 SCs and 1~ to my name. My status page says:

Additional Status credits required by 30 Sep 2011 to receive
complimentary Gold membership for a family member or friend: 2,090

No reference to retaining platinum. I don't know whether that is normal?

Mine still shows how many points I need to retain platinum (495) and still shows points for comp partner gold. My anniversary is end of Feb, so might make a difference.

Wow, 50000 FF points (Value circa $1000 perhaps) or THREE complimentary valet parking/chauffeured transfer invites ($600 perhaps).

They really are out to reward the frequent flyer.

Can I just confirm I read this correctly as sarcasm?

Arrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

So this was effective from 1 October basically. The day after 2710 status credits expired :(

My initial thought was to grab the 50K points if I hit it again this year (which I wont) - just wish this had kicked in a month earlier...

Looking at the fine print on the benefits comparison table partner gold will be removed from 3 may 2011. Instead at 2400 SC there is a choice of rewards including complimentary gold - note the lack of the word partner.

Well I could have stretched to 2100 before 30 sept next year but 2400 is right out. I have some choices to make about crediting AA or flying DJ more once I hit 1200 SC

One thing is this will potentially reduce numbers in the lounge.

medhead - are you currently LTG? I should hit LTS next year and dependent on job changes if I continue on an annual WP PG status then I will credit to QF until LTG - only after that point will I credit to AA (unless I can comfortably make EXP in which case everything changes...)
