[Confirmed Fixed - Maybe Not!] No LHR T5 Galleries access for QP before BA/QF flights

I notice too that the hong kong lounge is still referred to as, well... 'the hong kong lounge', on ba's site. it is neither an executive, terraces or galleries lounge. does that mean no access for qp members with onwards connections ex hong kong under the new arrangements?

The Hong Kong Lounge is a joint QF-BA Lounge, so the normal QF rules apply.

I suspect the QF reps are trying to work out what the hell is going on with BA ..........

While my qantas club membership is on hold, I too assumed that the galleries lounge at T5 would be accessible when I revert back to that status next year. under the new 'stronger qantas' with flights being undertaken by BA ex London in future to many points in Asia, will my club membership allow me access at T5 for those flights? what about all the code shares (7 or 8 of them to Europe?). potentially long transit times and now no lounges.

Good point. Stronger Qantas; weaker Qantas Club membership.

I suspect the QF reps are trying to work out what the hell is going on with BA ..........

If it was a case of BA digging in their heals over a simple name then the obvious (yet petty) response would be for QF to deny BA J passengers access to the MEL and SYD international Business lounges. After all, BA J passengers fly Club World, not Business!

Sadly, I think Qantas knows full well what is going on. The information passed to the government travel provider rep by the QF rep and posted by me above, as well as a couple of other members who've had contact with QF agents claiming 'you should never had access', leads me to believe we're all being taken for a ride. Unfortunately, that ride doesn't include lounge access pre-departure!

That is correct, as proven with my HK QP access with a 3K HKG-SIN $908 HKD ($110 AUD) flight 4 days ago. Not exactly building a stronger Qantas, but I'll take anything that comes along (and perhaps drink up the value of my flight ticket's worth before the flight). :) :D  :-|  :!: (only if there was a death-warmed-up smilie...)

have I missed the official company rep's reply on this matter?

No, the sound of silence is deafening :( Whilst I appreciate that Red Roo is not obliged to comment/participate as they/QF see fit, I am a little perplexed that the issue of QP Lounge Access seems to be something they would rather not comment on.

I'm still holding out for official confirmation from Qantas, but if what is being reported is true this has really got me fired up.
I usually turn the other cheek at some of the negative sentiments about Qantas, but this is inexcusable.

I've sent off an email on the website requesting clarification on the lounge access policy at LHR T5.
I noticed you posted a reply from Qantas on this matter. Did you send feedback on someone's behalf or are you simply fed up with constant erosion of benefits? As a Platinum I do not believe lounge access rules have changed to any of the lounges at LHR or have I missed some announcement?

Apologies, Simongr, if the "Trust the Poms." caused offence - it was meant as a joke in the sense of the usual rivalry. I have trouble inserting emoticons while composing a message as it causes IE to freeze and I lose everything I've typed (does anyone else have the same problem?). Hence the ... after the phrase.
Also happens to me occasionally. If you hover your mouse over the smiley then it gives the character string to enter to get that smiley to appear. After a while you get used to the character strings.

Can't get it to do that. If I hover my cursor over a smiley it simply gives a description of the conveyed emotion (eg. 'Smile', 'Sad', 'Confused'), not the character string.

.

I have 22 months Qantas club membership on hold. I explained this in the email as well as seeking clarification so I can inform friends & colleagues.

Ironically I was a very happy WP until this issue. I'm dissapointed in how Qantas have tried to point the finger of blame and hide on this matter. Be upfront, proactive and show your loyal customers some respect.

Then you have the Fleet grounding industrial action... Enough said.

I already saw that post thanks Medhead but what I can't see is the character string when the cursor is hovered on the smiley. A label pops up saying, for example, 'Happy' not the : + ) character string.

 yes of course, I totally missed the point. I also get that with the mouse pointer. But just testing a few now, iPad safari puts in the text version while editing. Maybe that's how I got them.

Maybe if I list a few.

Standard ones involve : or ;. So remove the spaces in the following, and they should be obvious : ), ; ), : p, : (, : - |, : o, : D

Then most of the rest are one of the following words with : on either side

Confused, mad, eek, rolleyes, cool, mrgreen, shock, lol, oops, evil, !, ?, idea, arrow.

That should be all. Hope it helps.

Maybe the grounding of the fleet was just a ploy to get us all to forget about this this issue. :0

well certainly the qantas PR team didn't have anything to do during the grounding.., all we got was a cut from press releases or a tweet saying that we could go to the website to check out rerouting options. no real empathy that I could see...

oh... they did come up with that 'we're truly sorry that we are not flying today due to industrial action'. they just left off it was THEIR industrial action :)

imdont actually think the qantas has ever been serious about active participation on here, and I don't think we are going to see real assistance. I think after a year or so it is not going to change.

Agree. If you are going to interact with your customers via social media or forums. To be successful you can't just interact when it suits you, but as per the expectations of that media.

This thread is a great example where a quick response from QF to issues raised or even a statement management are in discussion with BA..... etc, would be well received by most removing uncertainty, and second guessing.

Oh well logic is not always a strength of large organisations.

Has anyone tried sending QF a tweet on the subject?

Given the events over the last few days, I would imagine it wouldn't be high up on the list of Redroo to be on here.

However, through both Twitter, FB and here, QF have always given me the courtesy of a response. I wish I could say the same for JQ. Simon Westaway appeared on here for a very brief time then moved jobs. No replacement of sort. Virgin although they may seem more proactive on this forum, they only seem to appear from time to time. So in the big picture, is there much difference in the level of activity between the two reps?

Back to the OP now...

yes I waiting for that response when I posted my comments... that qf would have been too busy with other things that worry about lounge access... but that just goes to show that the organization can't deal with multiple issues at the same time... I love how people are so quick (not you mannej :)) to criticize government when something goes wrong, forgetting that government is dealing with 1000 issues a day... we don't sit back and say 'oh well, they are dealing with the economy today, so they don't need to worry about welfare, employment, water, infrastructure'. we expect them to be able to deal with multiple issues, all of the time. government is the same in structure as a large company, only a handful of ministers responsible for everything... just like a handful of board members are responsible for everything.

to say that everything else should be ignored just because you have one issue (on which they did almost nothing anyway) I think is being too generous to qnatas... :)

Also given that the grounding action was super secret I think that QF could have responded to this before the current crisis as this thread was started some time ago.
