[Confirmed Fixed - Maybe Not!] No LHR T5 Galleries access for QP before BA/QF flights

Also given that the grounding action was super secret I think that QF could have responded to this before the current crisis as this thread was started some time ago.

Yes this thread started a week before the weekend crisis. If we accept it was not a planned action, then crisis is not a viable explanation pre 29 oct.

To date, no updates on website, no emails to QC members, nothing proactive. I don't expect complete resolution but silence?

I haven't heard anything & I'm anxiously waiting on a resolution. How can Qantas justify its so-called "Stronger Qantas Strategy" by dumping us onto BA codeshares where we are treated with disdain & now QP members can't use the T5 lounge due to cunning semantics.

Dr FM left for London today. She is debating whether to fly to Europe or just go Eurostar - she is QF life PS, so no galleries access. I am sure BA won't feel the pinch from her not buying a cheap economy fare :)

I note RedRoo has been posting on items like cabin staff not being aware of WP one codes, so presumably life has calmed down again. However still no replies here.

I guess there are 2 possibilities

Optimistic view - Qantas is trying to get access and all will soon be restored and he will announce here.

Pessimistic view - Nothing will happen and they are hoping if they keep their heads down and don't respond all will be forgotten when some new issue becomes in vogue.

I would assume this is to be the correct one, if hearsay reports about Qantas unwilling to pay for it is true. Having said that though, we don't know if, 1. Qantas ever paid for it, and BA never policed it, or 2. Qantas have paid for it, and BA ups the price to astronomical levels, or 3. any other circumstances which led to the withdrawal of the assumed but never-officially-announced benefits.

I can only describe this as very misleading. Have booked LONE with one world airlines assuming at least I would have lounge access when flying QF/BA/AA sectors and now find out that the BA lounge access is non existent despite it being advertised as a benefit. Qantas needs to clarify this on the website ASAP. Less frequent flying (but loyal) QP members cannot be expected to know that BA have several different names for their lounges.......... no point in renewing my 20 year membership next year. I was annoyed when we lost priority check in and now even more annoyed.

Just a small point Spieck, QP members have had Priority Check-in re-instated.

Just looking at the QF website in relation to QP Lounge Access, if you click the provided link for British Airways and AA lounge locations, this is what you get...
Server Error

Yup - Dr FM and I tried that link on Monday to get the latest info and that is what we got too - so try again shortly actually means try in some days/months/years.

What the FAQ says...

Question
How will the new London Heathrow Terminal 5 affect the British Airways Lounges in Terminal 4?

Answer

Due to the relocation of British Airways flights to the new London Heathrow Terminal 5 and extensive terminal renovations, British Airways Terminal 4 lounges including First Lounge, Gate 10 Terraces Lounge and Concorde Lounges remain closed.

All eligible oneworld customers, Platinum and Gold Frequent Flyers, Qantas Club Members and customers travelling in First and Business Class are invited to use the British Airways Lounge at Gate 1. Due to space restrictions members' guests may not be accommodated in this lounge.

Qantas has moved to Terminal 3 and has a complete range of lounge facilities available to all eligible customers.

How old is that???

BA's 'gate 1' lounge at T4 has been closed for some years, ever since all the last of the T4 BA 'Asian' flights moved to T3.

Who knows? It's the first result that comes up when you do a search for 'British airways lounge' on the Qantas site.

I think it says you can access the lounge near Gate 1.

yeah ... near gate 1 at T4 ... which is no longer there as a BA lounge ...

It is talking about the intermim arrangements that were put in place when BA moved most of their flights to T5 and before Qantas moved to T3. As for keeping up to date, those critics may note it does say at the end that Qantas has now moved to T3 and provides lounge facilities, which is 100% true.

Another data point FWIW, new post on Milepoint by someone stating they were turned away from all 3 galleries lounges at T5 yesterday (QP Life) member advised that there are "no terraces or executive club lounges in T5"
Has anyone heard anything further from QF on this ?

Also FWIW Dr FM decided to chance her arm and go to a T5 lounge before her flight to Zurich yesterday. She is PS and QP life. She was turned away of course but being a very pleasant chatty person she had a talk to the lounge dragon, who told her it was definitely Qantas who had decided not to pay for galleries access. So I guess this is why they are ignoring the issue and hoping it will die down, which of course it almost has. I wonder if anyone has taken the issue to the ACCC?
