After explaining this twice - I was hung up on. .

I would be putting in a formal complaint via the web (and not red roo), re-education is needed as well as a manners course.

Booked 2 x JASA ADL xSYD AKL for mrsbuzzard and I today for travel on the Easter w/e. Less than 5 min wait on the dedicated number, first operator who had been there "for a long time" said it could not be done. Asked for a supervisor and it was all sorted very quickly. Did think the co payment seemed high but then what do I compare it to? Points cost was 72,000 each.

Yes, agree. That was my experience, too, with a recent booking, MEL-LHR. Don't have the actual numbers to hand, at the moment, but wondering if there is a crib sheet somewhere for reasonable co-payments on standard routings?

My sympathies Steelo for the ice cold treatment! I would follow markis' advice and let us know how you go with the complaint...

It maybe just an SG thing, a few months back I had one rep reprimand me with very 'accusative tones' over a request, but formally directing blame to a previous rep that helped me with something very minor due to my personal circumstances at the time (which won me over to the belief that Qantas was living up to 'you're the reason we fly motto')... anyway the rep even put me on hold while she reported it the to her supervisor, before grudgingly returning to change the dates of my flight... tail between my legs, I said thank you.. thinking I should be grateful, and to never expect consistency, or constants

its an things where things will always change, and we can't expect companies to always get it right, hence I would say that its better to hedge and have one foot in either camp, and to walk the line between quality and price, and not the one party line

enough of my rambling, good night all!

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

I just completed a survey for Qantas where they wanted my thoughts on both VFF and QFF. I didn't shirk from telling them exactly what I thought and QFF often rated below VFF. The final "add any additional comments" question got this response:

I am one of many who are disappointed with the the transfer of Any Seat Award bookings (at Classic redemption rates) from the website to the Call Centre and the review currently being undertaken. If they are taken away, that will impact my desire to earn points in the Qantas FF program, to fly with QF and to continue to re-qualify Gold and will continue my significant transfer of flying to Virgin (where I have obtained and recently re-qualified Platinum).

They (QF CSRs) should be grateful that - in Australia - the term re-education connotes a very benign meaning.

In China or Vietnam, it would mean a jail term and multiple lengthy self confessions of your own 'crimes' against the state.

Had an email from the Regional GM of QF last week, after he met samh004 at the QF Corporate Travel Show and they discussed this issue. He wants to have coffee with me this week to catch up and discuss it. Looking forward to telling him (and showing him the level of discontent in the AFF/FT community), including my comment to their survey. Verbatim.

Will report back (and has been cross posted to the other thread)

Thank you for that - I look forward to some common sense being shown by QF.

Look forward to hearing a report back. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has booked their flights away from QF since this change was announced. QF Classic or ASA's now available online just aren't competitive compared to other programs (mind you, the pricing which the QF site has been offering whenever I was making bookings guaranteed that I booked with someone else).

I'd be very surprised if you receive a real answer to this JASA fiasco, here's hoping :)

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

I'm not expecting that he will be able to fix the problem, merely be an excellent conduit into QF's middle management in Sydney that this issue and the Priority Boarding issues are important to us and we (AFF members) control a large revenue spend, so ignore at their peril :o.

I'll bet he had little idea about how important xASA's were to (some of his) corporate and retail clients until he was briefed by samh004. Now that his eyes have been opened, time for me to follow up and continue to keep him briefed. Will have to take my iPad so he can read some of the comments from us all.

I imagine QF gets good money from their credit card partners. Its not just flights that generate points. I have changed my cc use to mimimise QF point earn and notified Woolworths EDR and Amex that to that effect ( in case they care and I suspect they do)

It's funny how some organisations try to tough it out, and only try to respond after they've been dragged through the social media mud....

Considering this is now the second most liked thread and the most liked thread pertaining to actual travel on this forum, whenever some goes to the discussion forum and looks at the most liked threads they will probably see for a long time one of the most insane changes an airline has ever done to a reward program and probably one of the most baffling decisions to remove a relatively easy online feature and then rip it out leaving loyal customers only the option of calling QF to access cheap ASA's which is probably now costing QF money rather then saving them money.

Remember QF, QFF is one of the cornerstones of QF that keeps QF remotely profitable.

looking at burning some points on some MASA's, Flightstats not showing "U" availability, however J Classic award is showing as available on Qantas site..... Am I correct in remembering that Red Roo said if there is a classic available, then a MASA can be requests...?

Or am I missing something...?

Is the classic availability with QF or a partner?
