Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

Hello

Just a quick question please, when we book JASA on the phone, do we get charged a credit card fee? so $7 domestic and $30 International?
I just found out that we do. Does anyone remember if we used to get charged? when we could do it ourselves online... ?

Thank you in advance

Yes, standard credit card payment fee applies (and always did).

Thank you opusman :)

I wonder if QFF is gonna get sick of us calling all the time for quotes and prices :p

When they do, they'll just enhance the MASA thing (whilst still calling it a MASA) such that nobody calls anymore.

Problem solved.

How can they, its not our fault these were removed off the website, it's all their doing so as some would say, they reap what they sow

Yes but sometimes they get cranky when i mention ASA
Makes the phone call awkward and unpleasant...

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

Occasionally a telephone agent will try to charge a phone booking fee of 3,500 points. This should definitely not be charged and if it is, then it should be refunded. As there is no way to book these online, there should therefore be no assistance fee.

The credit card fee though, is unavoidable unfortunately.

Would the cheaper fee of $2.50 for a debit card apply?

Aaaahh, enhance... - the word that QF, bless them, so enthusiastically redefined...! Look out for it in the next edition of the OED!

ASAs seems to be only one of a couple of examples in this respect and unfortunately that is not the criteria for waiving the fee in almost all other circumstances. qantas has consistently said that just because something can't be booked on line doesn't mean they will waive the assisted booking fee. I have direct experience of that on several occasions.

i think qantas is unique in slugging customers that way?

Its not restricted to Qantas :) . Air Canada at least, also use the 'E' word with that meaning and Aeroplanners dislike it as much as we do.

What about award flights on carriers that don't display in the online search - e.g. MH, JL etc.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

I know right!!!

Emirates don't charge a booking fee on the phone!!

I love it how Qantas abolishes half of our luggage allowance to line it up with Emirates BUT do they rid the telephone booking fee to be the same as Emirates? NOOOOOOO they do not!

Rude!

No wonder most Aussies book with other carriers.

What's QF's logic there? All I ever see is BA and CX (even though the JSA is discontinued).
I just hope QR doesn't adjust it fares upward when it joins the OW cartel next month.

Try searching MEL to KL and see what comes up for both paid flights and rewards.

You can go either direct on EK or indirect on a combination of QF to SIN then JQ to KL or EK to SIN then JQ to KL... Seems like MH has disappeared given QF,s Sponsorship it amazes me that there seems to little or no co-operation

It gets worse on the return as they then throw in 3K to SIN then JQ back to MEL WTF is that about isnt Qantas supposed to be a premium airline !!!!!!

We still haven't seen what QFF earn/burn for QR will be. Given the Emirates relationship, I wouldn't be surprised to see them earning nothing or barely nothing, and QR being competitively priced in order to get us all to credit flights on them to AAdvantage.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

I though this was a thread on ASAs? Therefore surely we should only be discussing those carriers on which one can book - i.e. QF?

Perhaps the mods can hive off the discussion on OW classic redemptions to another thread?

Surely QR would want people in their own Qmiles programme rather than AAdvantage. Also won't mileage earn depend on how much QR is willing to pay QF?
