Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

Sigh, flew ASA yesterday MEL-SIN (booked before 30th June 2014), activity posted but zero SC, zero Points.
Will have to wait till I am free to chase this up

Same for us KitKat plus one at work too so that makes 3 of us so far.

flew Mel-Syd yesterday and the same. Activity statement says it was an any seat award but no points or sc. will wait a few days and see if it is corrected like the paid fares were. Otherwise this could become a very long and complicated process!!!

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

I have had to chase up SC's on all of my Any Seat Awards since mid June. All posted as zero.

To be completely honest, I can see them drop at least another one. If I must predict the future, then I would see QF operating only domestic between major cities, plus SYD/MEL to US and LHR. Everything else turns orange.

At least till the orange starts speaking Arabic!!?? :-P

I think they will stick with at least 3 Australian major cities. BNE to the USA could be resurrected in some form.

Another thing I do not understand with Qantas is not trying tag flights. CX appears to utilise these quite well and in BKK, and I believe TPE, transit passengers stay onboard to reduce the transit time.

Something like ADL-PER-SIN and PER-ADL-SIN on alternate days would be OK. What about BNE-CNS/DRW-SIN/HKG?

And yes I know some AFFers want direct flights (which sort of defeats the purpose of a FF forum) but at least it tag flights would some of these cities with a Qantas international service.

One day perhaps it will click with them and they'll realise why people dont use ASA's (points plus pay).... even a toaster is better value than those redemptions...

RIP MASA

Like to put money on it that they will realise ??? more than likely someone will get a raise because the wood-ducks...yes...WOOD-DUCKS that now take up the ASA's will make that section very profitable for Qantas in relation to points benefits received. the fact that they might now be only 5 % of the previous usage is irrelevant, possibly also irrelevant the same users of the ASA's in the past will now be using CLASSICS at half the cost and getting virtually the same benefits ( notwithstanding points and SC's) but lounge access in J etc

looks like a total system glitch.
happened to me, I rang and they sorted it out the same day

It does rather seem that they didn't spend the three months notice time working out how the system would credit the fares booked to 30/6. My guess is that they are going to rely on manual processes for 000s of flights, and given their downsizing this could become somewhat chaotic and dependent on all of us tracking every xASA flight booking until we see the posting.

Seems to me like you have some great ideas there JohnK, esp for those like me in ADL or PER etc.
But because they are good ideas I doubt they will ever see the light of day.

Which, of course, we will all do assiduously ;):D.

Too right. Although I suspect those outside of AFF (and FT) probably won't even notice.

A tag flight from ADL to PER on the way to SIN wouldn't make that much sense considering SQ fly that leg direct. There'd be very little reason to fly indirect like that.

I think it makes sense as it wouldn't be a transit where you disembark and board again. But that was one suggestion.

The other was PER-SIN and ADL-SIN with A330 on alternate days. Maybe PER 4 days/week and ADL 3 days/week. I know SQ has better services but SQ is not for everyone.

Surely you would give that a try before pulling international services from these 2 cities?

I think a non-daily service makes more sense than flying totally in the wrong direction to get to SIN. You would think that MEL would be a better transit spot for those wanting to travel to SIN from ADL if there had to be one.

I would certainly prefer a direct service (we had one last year) but would accept a tag flight as an alternative.
Yes, SQ fly direct but I am not an SQ customer, I want to stay with QF for various reasons.

Out of the two tag flight options - which would be the better option? PER or MEL?

Surely, PER! It's in the right direction for a start and MEL already has a SIN service so a tag flight to MEL is pointless and is, in fact, the current arrangement for ADL based pax.

I would rather stay QF as well but things not looking too good right now.
