I wonder how many P1's will vanish if Classic ASA's are kaput?

Uhoh, the sky is falling in. Main driver behind this is most likely to stop all those points earners they love so much from easily getting status without direct spend. Let's be honest here, it was a very unique FF program feature and I'm surprised it even lasted as long as it did. What is with all the self entitlement here? Will everyone start complaining too if they don't get double SC offers? Oops. That already happens.

I think you mean JASAs? At least one I know of. ;)

Will however attain WP next year and not far from LTG.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Thanks to what I have learned on AFF, I've been using JASA's & FASA's for twice yearly trips to Europe (I used to blow points on Classic Awards). I've always enjoyed making all my own bookings on-line, whenever or wherever the mood takes me. Most of my trips are spur of the moment and booked on my iPad and destinations mostly dictated by the best value for my points. If I have to ring and make these bookings, I will probably find it all too hard and/or annoying. I can't see someone on the other end of the phone waiting while I google the best weather to visit .... wherever!

As luck would have it, last night around 11:30pm, I booked some sweet LHR Return JASA's before I had a look at this thread. 2 weeks ago I booked a DSC run to ski NZ in July; BNE, TSV, BNE, MEL, AKL, ZQN, AKL, MEL, BNE, TSV, BNE, so pretty pleased with myself.

Still have about 350,000 points left, so at some stage I'll have to work out how best to use them.

In answer to someone's previous question. We buy J for nearly all of our Domestic & NZ flights whenever Qantas has a sale. I thought this was the best way to boost our points for the Long Haul Trips. I suspect that when our WP status runs out we will start looking around at other airlines, for the first time in many years :( even though Mr ALH is a lifetime Q Club member.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

It won't be just switching our flying to other airlines, it will be switching our credit card point programs away from earning QFF points which Qantas have been so hell bent on promoting recently.

Yep I will be possibly switching my cards to Virgin, shopping to Coles, Kmart, Target, and First Choice for the Flybuys. I will switch from points to fuel discount at WW fuel.

Qantas this will have a flow on effect.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

We are always looking at ways to improve the member experience. As recently as 2 weeks ago we hosted many of the AFF members at Rockpool where we got some great ideas. We can confirm that Any Seat Awards are here to stay and many members enjoy the flexibility of being able to purchase any fare using points.
When there is any news we will do our best to make sure that AFF are among the first to know.

It was never really a repudiation of the original claim, as suggested by a former thread title. :(

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Qantas please spare us some mercy and at least improve the availability of classic business award flights i.e. PER/SYD to LAX direct flights so that AFFers can burn the last of our points and move on with the reality that status will now require bums in $eats :)

I'm personally more than happy to play by the new rules, but at least please shape us a programme like SQ or Velocity where there are ample business classic award seats to anywhere in the world (more SQ for that) pretty much anytime...

If not bye bye QFF, bye bye JASAs because there's no give and take here!

VA would be mad not to jump on these ridiculous changes by Qantas and status match.

For those who have used xASA:

Will you be reassessing which FF program you credit your flying/credit card points from now?

Ha ha. Thanks for finding that quote DC3. Of course what Red Roo apparently meant to say was that they will do their best to make sure that "certain selected people" on AFF are among the first to know.

Good one, Red Roo. Big bonus coming for keeping the chooks fed.

Which version of the title? This thread has been renamed numerous times

YES we are both reassesing our Loyalty to Qantas and its Partners such as Credit cards and other service providers

I'm not sure how much more give VA lounges can sacrifice during peak hours to be honest... and unfortunately QF plats/business flyers will take some time to adjust as VA lounges is simply one big communal hot pot!

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Sorry? Just noticed this.

Did some here get a briefing about the changes yesterday?

If so - lucky blighters. But why?

markis 10 - can you please let us know what the nature of the briefing / heads up was - a call, e-mail etc etc. And who here was in on it, please?

Not saying there was anything wrong on your / their part, but I'd like to know if QF is trying to manipulate QFF by grooming some 'leaders / moderators'. If not, why the briefing?

I was on the phone briefing yesterday as well. Although I am currently researching flights for my parents and was going to be a JASA I did not book any flights last night. My involvement was purely form a reporting aspect.

I've certainly made hay with ASAs while they lasted and will 'lose' around 1000SCs per year.
I'll still comfortably exceed 3600 but the 2700 on QF might become a stretch and maybe not worth the effort.
But I don't need to worry about it until late 2015, by which time the entire FF landscape may be quite different.

I urge everyone to send feedback into Qantas. More feedback the better.

Customer Care Feedback Form

And trust me, they do pass it on to the appropriate area.

For those people who seem to have contact with the appropriate managers, email/call them too.

Feedback sent, via the Feeback Form.

I'm personally currently saving up for 2 oneworld RTW fares. I wouldn't be using points on xASA until I have these points saved up. I will reassess my options after that point. Hopefully QF makes some meaningful improvements which make me want to remain loyal.

I was referring to the "repudiated by Red Roo" bit (something like that, I think). That title has disappeared now of course.

I suspect you are a bit behind the thread :) I wouldn't imagine for a second that you would do anything inappropriate.

I'd just like to see better up-front disclosure here on AFF as to who has been 'briefed' / receive perks / freebies and why. What did Qantas think it would get by briefing mods and others here, where the receivers couldn't pass the info onto the forum?

Good luck to those who get the freebies / inside running. Mods put time into this forum; I don't begrudge them upside. They shouldn't mind up-front disclosure though.

Hoping Admin will clarify policy in due course.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I don't think the sky is falling... yet..

We all know that the FF programme is the most profitable part of QF. What they're doing here is taking away some of the lower profit products. Any business would do the same.

And I'm sure it only represents a small percentage of total products anyhow. They'll remove ASAs that = Classic awards, but continue offering all ASAs that are in between the classic rate and the full priced seat equivalent.

From a business perspective I can't blame them. It has been pretty poorly handled however.
