Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I would sugest NOPE it seems a number of people are having issues with the new website in terms of functionality and navigation. Such as going round and round in circles if you try and book an award via the award tab :D

Yep I just did that with the award tab. I thought I was caught up in a time loop!

Ahh but I did medhead.. And I asked that very question at the briefing..

Ok. Just didn't notice that in the post here. My mistake.

Well key difference, I don't see earning points as being kosher on awards.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Why don't they fit in with the new simplified booking system? I can book an expensive any seat award/points plus pay whatever you want to call it today but it is purposely excluding the classic award buckets.

And the classic award level economy ASAs still seem possible.

I don't see classic awards earning points, just status credits..

Are frequent flyer miles really a good deal? http:/www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01cn7mr

They are if used the right way. Unfortunately, the people they dig up for these stories don't use them the right way.

And that's why people on this forum are upset with the changes to QF in respect to ASA's!

Just me or this so called new and improved streamlined QF website more difficult to navigate the previous incarnation?

DEFINITELY MORE DIFFICULT. They don't display as many flights on the one page without needing to scroll. and as others mentioned no comparison to business prices on domestic

Actually rather than bring back ASA's I'd prefer them to offer Status credits on all award bookings. Problem solved then..

Smartest comment on this thread so far

In addition to all of this, even the classic awards are broken, with the calendar showing award availability, only to click through on a date to find none.

ExpertFlyer shows the inventory is there but you can't book it. It appears to fail if there is no X inventory.

So it seems QF will only allow you to book the awards they feel like offering on the website.

To say this whole changeover angers me is an understatement.

That has been a problem for me with QF award booking for as long as I can remember.

This.

I've been relying on ASA's to maintain SG - was in the process of making a slow WP run thanks to this years double SC offer.. but this saga (and what it seems to be a precursor to) puts me off entirely.

Very, very poor. And the Qantas toolbar is the height of tackiness - way to go with devaluing a premium brand.

While the relevant pages on qantas.com will be updated soon, I would like to give AFF members a heads up that the dedicated number to book a Classic Award as an Any Seat Award (1300 366 587) is now available 24/7. Hope this goes towards making the booking process more convenient.

I love Qantas and the ASAs are not a deal breaker for me and I will continue to fly Qantas regardless. However it is 2013, not 1980 - it is an electronic online age, not a clunky spend ages on the phone era......However full marks for trying to fix what you can - much appreciated.

If one reads through the hundreds of posts here its a lot more convenient to select ASA's online so while they are doing the update we'll have them back please .
