and returning to common sense with a search and book online ASA would be an "enhancement".

Would make life a little easier when booking and might stop me going directly to sing airlines.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

While the relevant pages on qantas.com will be updated soon, I would like to give AFF members a heads up that the dedicated number to book a Classic Award as an Any Seat Award (1300 366 587) is now available 24/7. Hope this goes towards making the booking process more convenient.

Are you able to confirm whether this will be falling away after September as some in this thread have had phone agents say to them?

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Booked my first JASA status run today. First agent to answer phone call had no idea what I wanted and hung up on me after saying she will do some checking! 2nd agent was on the ball and said she just had training on this last Fri but still took 30 mins to book. Bring this back to online booking please!

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

This.

I've been relying on ASA's to maintain SG - was in the process of making a slow WP run thanks to this years double SC offer.. but this saga (and what it seems to be a precursor to) puts me off entirely.

Please tell me more about earning status credits on Virgin on reward flights

30 min hey, does this include wait times to actually speak with someone, or is this the total time with the operator, also what time was wasted waiting for and speaking to the first operator...?

I can see that this "enhancement" is a rather costly exercise for Qantas now, requiring more labour for an ASA booking than before, hence will give them more reason to remove the special phone number and (M)ASA's all together.

Its easy to get rid of something when its a really labour intensive clunky booking process, perhaps if the clunky process doesn't stop people like us booking ASA's, then Qantas will kill it off because it is costing them a packet for the call center in taking these types of bookings...

Either way, it would be nice to know their logic behind their madness, thankfully nobody at Qantas has suggest mail order booking of ASA's....YET

QF's logic as I have previously stated is they are now playing the long game with ASA's as they failed to kill ASA's when they wanted too.
They knew it would cost them money when they changed the system and thus they knew it would give them the pretense to finally destroy ASA's.
I hope I am wrong but QF keep misleading us so I have no other conclusion.
Remember QF, we are the reason you guys have jobs!

30 mins with the 2nd operator, about 5 min wait time before she answered the call. The first call involves 15 min wait time and 30 min talking with the first operator and she then took 20 mins to book a classic award flight despite me repeating I want to book ASA in U class!

Are frequent flyer miles really a good deal? http:/www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01cn7mr

Well robw0910 if you had ever wondered who did poorly at arithmetic in school the couple flying to Singapore on Kris miles really won the double prize. They were lucky to get a helping hand.

I guess QFF members are not the only ones having problems with their Frequent Flyer program.

[video=youtube;hOnqIIFQB88]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOnqIIFQB88[/video]

What a bunch of sad sacks they all are!

I think it just highlights how people can't be bothered to put in the effort themselves & expect 'the computer' to come up with all the different combinations & basically just spoon feed them.

I'm surprised the KF couple didn't whine "I would've thought the computer would have told us to that it would've been cheaper to buy US Dividend Miles from the US site & we could've flown Business Class for less than the cost of a paid economy ticket".

Then the matter of being blindsided by their son's upcoming 30th Birthday making it impossible to predict 330 days in advance (or whatever the required KF booking window is). Hello! The dude's been working in Singers for 5 years you muppets.

I think he summed it up when he said "it's all too much hassle". It isn't a hassle, it's called effort & I don't mind making an effort if (by doing research on forums such as AFF) I'm going to save a bundle by booking on a certain site or be able to buy miles to use for a J ticket that costs a fraction of a paid J fare.

Having said all that, not being able to do your own ASA bookings online has taken the ability away for the individual to put in that effort & airline res people are not going to share our enthusiasm for checking dates for award availability as often and as conveniently as we were able to do up until 25 June.

I guess I could have found 100 ASA flights in all that time online, arr well Qantas I feel will come to their or senses on this surely :).

Well that's probably 99 you didn't book, and for the non-FF-savvy, 100 they didn't book, and after finding limited Classic award availability may well have paid cash or Points+Pay. Which is what QF want you to do.

FI: As an exercise I just followed the procedure. Wanted two J return BNE-SYD in early August. The Qantas person was very helpful but really did not know anything about the procedure and had to go check with supervisor several times. But complements, she was excellent, very helpful and tried hard, just didn't know how to do it. In total it took 33 minutes from dial to hangup.

In the end they came back with a fully points ASA for 111.6K (for two) with no co-payment. I suppose that's not too bad actually but more than one needed in the past from my experience. The classic award online was 64K pp plus $140.50 or 88K in total.

Given we didn't actually need the SCs to requalify for WP, the extra 50K or so points difference was not worth it so cancelled it all and went back to a classis award.

As has been said and will be again by many, these days to waste 30 minutes of both my and Qantas staffs' time and not be able to do it simply and conveniently via the web is simply ridiculous. Let's hope Qantas can bring back the functionality of the old system soon.

Red Roo, short of an answer to this question (which would of course be much appreciated), could you possibly let us know whether we will be entitled to three months' notice if and when a decision is made to terminate the "Classic Award as an Any Seat Award" benefit?

My year starts October. Ordinarily I would be looking to start buying JASAs for October 2014 as soon as they become available in early to mid-October. If the odds of being able to do so are low, I'd rather just get rid of my points on Classic awards for late 2013 / early 2014 while availability is still relatively good...

In a nutshell: as of July 16, is it reasonable to assume that MASAs will still be available as of October 16?

LOL. It's just a software update to give FFs what Qantas staff can do behind the scenes, nothing that difficult. As long as the 'enhancement' isn't promoted like the recent one as 'giving more freedom' to FFs.

Oh really.

I cringe now when I think of "enhancement".

Its so ridiculous taking ASA's of the web site, I can't believe that a business like Qantas can waste so much manpower, have so many untrained in the latest developments and waste so much of their customers time, put simply its ludicrous.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Does anyone know if it is possible to book the standard ASA (not at Classic rates) and then subsequently change the FF number to earn credit in AAdvantage?

Do you mean points + pay?

You may be able to change the FF number to an AAccount, but it depends on the booking class as to how the AA.com system will credit the flight.
