Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

Our sales staff are still working so have been told to change their hours to be in store when theres less people so most are starting 6am or working until 10pm, depending on what they prefer.

In Vietnam they are selling designer masks -

Gucci
Calvin Klein
Burberry
Valentino. ...
Chanel
Givenchy. ...
Balenciaga
Yves Saint Laurent
Prada
USA Military Camo
Spiderman for Kids
and the usual Scottish Tartan Motorbike ones

I have one for Australia each side a big red love heart, and next to that a roll of toilet paper.

I would like one for Health workers - 'You are going to DIE' which is always true, eventually.

Visited local Woolworths this morning. Whilst they still don't have any toilet paper (and I haven't seen any in their store for a couple of weeks), most other supplies are pretty normal. But, what was very noticeable was that the number of people in the store was much lower than even a normal day, and they were all very polite. Quite a change.

Some are suggesting that supermarkets have profit gouged by putting up prices, but seems to me that people have forgotten the drought and bushfires and their effect on farmers.

I’m personally not talking about profit gouging on fresh produce as you say there has been climate change (drought) and bushfire impact there.

The supermarkets binned almost all specials on all products outside of fresh as well at the same time.... and I guarantee those were no way related to the above.

We will see when the supermarkets report their earnings how much exactly they have managed to make out of this opportunity...

I noticed Coles Belconnen ACT, a full time staff spraying and wiping hand baskets with a soap? based product - all clean nothing grotty - spotless and all new looking. Gold star coles!
Note alcohol based protection dissapears after it has evaporated.
Did not see bake your own bread flour - panic buying along with eggs.

In Wollies, the trolleys had the bogan, grubby look. in both stores people were going in and out fast. They need to employ a in store covid Zombie following those with toilet paper.

I reiterate - Give up smokes and nicotine - there is literature indicating bad with covid coughtail.. Avoid public toilets with the air blower things that blow droplets...

The AFF secret I give out is your local Deli, imported cheeses and high end deli meats are in short supply. Hit Aldi for the bubbles.

Thankfully Ikea is still delivering.

Hubby is not so thankful.

And this is my friends dog Scrumpy. This is the friend that wasnt allowed to adopt a rescue dog because he was so decrepit that he could drop dead shortly after adoption... according to the rescue agency. So he thought about it for a while and said *&$ you and now has Scrumpy (also a rescue). Scrumpy enjoys daily long walks on the beach, in the national parks and coffee by various northern beaches.

Scrumpy doesnt understand social distancing because hes a very good boy and his human wishes it was rum not hand sanitiser on his collar.

My Woolies had a station set up by the entrance; wipes to clean down your trolley or basket, and a person pumping hand sanitiser onto the hands of every shopper before the entered the store. Coles had nothing, not even wipes to clean your basket.

Same here this morning at Erindale woolies. Coles at Chisholm yesterday had wipes for trolleys and baskets.

No wipes at Foodland. Plenty of used wipes left draping on baskets. 🤢 there is a spray bottle. Says not to spray it on skin. Which of course means I need to do exactly that.

Nephews birthday this week so sent him a card but who has stamps anymore so when hubby went to post office to pick something up, he got a book of 10 for just in case. Hes going to be 9yrs so no party, no friends ect

Now having all our deliveries to the house instead of post box and so far the posties have been great - right to our door but then again, hubbys on first name basis with them before this started so maybe that plays a part.

You should suggest that (mention the zombies) to the store manager. He is the type that would consider it.

I wonder what other category is there to buy?

We've done grocery, meds, Bunnings and office home desk stuff so far. Although I did order some Ikea.

My business services retailers and many of our garden centres are/were doing very, very well. Unfortunately in NZ the shutdown has forced them to close just when they were pulling their biggest days ever recorded. (Vegetable) seedlings were selling rapidly and now in short supply.

Also we have a pet store who had a run on kitty litter when the toilet paper shortage started to hit :)

Got a new prescription last week, went to the chemist, was told I had to wait until 20 days after my last pills were dispensed, which will be the 4th. Not happy, I thought I was doing the right thing, staying away from the shops and the possibility of a total lockdown by the 4th made me think I should do it sooner than later. I was not interested in hoarding stocks of drugs, I just wanted to reduce the number of visits. Yep, first world problems and I should be grateful, but!

It's the TGA law now unfortunately. Australia Post have started up a new scheme to home deliver but after my experience today where they just left a card even though I was home, it won't work.

I had a card left today. Card says one post office, tracking says another....
Well I went to pick it up today. It is a pokey old PO and does not comply with the distancing laws. Had to wait for ages. I asked the lady why as we were home, it wasn't delivered (it was never going to be as they only had the normal bike postie) she replied " well, the posties don't know when they come to the door what germs they will confront". Oh, that steamed me.

I have four Woolworths supermarkets within about 7km of my home. They have all said that people have been stealing the huge roll of trolley antiseptic wipes. You now have to go to the service desk and ask for them. One WW store only had paper towel and a spray bottle of sanitiser to DIY.

Posties aren't taking signatures so they just leave our parcels on the doorstep.

Because of the cameras, we're alerted when they walk in so hubby yells thank you.
