Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

Posties aren't taking signatures so they just leave our parcels on the doorstep.

Because of the our cameras, we're alerted when the walk in so hubby yells thank you.
Yes. That’s what happened with office works today. Not a sign of Aus Post. They never had any intention of delivery.

We had a shop today after our hit at the GP's..
Coles reception, lass with wipes and spray, all trolleys pre wiped, very swish.
Store amazingly quiet but plenty of loo paper and fair stocks of everything we wanted.
Woolies.. no meet and greet, wipes were a bit hidden away, stocks were good but overall the store was like ghost town.
Main feature of our outing was the pricing… rampant gouging underway and one wonders how the underemployed are managing.

Had a Qantas wine delivery this afternoon (3 days late) ... doorbell rang ... I was in teleconference and by the time SWMBO checked there was just the wine.

Video showed the delivery guy placing wine, pressing doorbell with something other than their fingers and walking away.
(Permission have been given to leave at front door.)

Wish it was like that in the UK re: stock, still madness here. If you're not in store the first 10 minutes you just can't get the basics.

Online deliveries are even harder, they've not attacked it quite yet in the same way that Australia seems to have.

Pricing however, seems to be reasonably ok. For now...... my butcher always seems to have good stock and will be good for a birthday BBQ on the weekend, I don't care if it's only 15 degrees!

We ordered some bulk hand sanitizer to split up into our locations. Getting it into the smaller dispensers is what we will have to do out of 10 litre containers. We can start that tomorrow. It is coming from a gin manufacturing place in Fremantle.

Produce store tells me (laying) chickens are out of stock until A P R I L.

bloody preppers…..
Preppers are more organised...they already have their chickens

Two local stock feed stores here each pre-sold 100 Point of lay chooks. Now these aren't going to lay for a month... Not sure what their new owners are going to eat in the mean time.

It's getting hard here to get chook feed be sure of it (my large flock will have to forage for themselves if it runs out).

The talk on chook FB pages is there will be a lot of fat foxes due to poorly housed chickenz

Same with the run on gardening at Bunnings. They won't be be producing veggies quickly but people persisting, which is good for our business.

Our poor factory guys need a parade after this, we've never seen so much product manufactured and trucks and our warehouse so empty because of demand.

The run on seeds had me LOL...
But I felt for the poor old guy in Bunnings the other day who couldn't get his regular seeds.

I was In Bunnings Monday during trady hour (best idea ever) and the staff said they are having a run on BBQs and outdoor furniture.... Examples of essential purchase right there

Most courier companies are following AU post and will move shortly to 100% ‘contactless/no touch/ATL’ deliveries with no signatures required even if the carriage conditions require it. Similar happened in NZ.

Yesterdays parcel, hubby went outside with his disinfectant to spray the parcel and the Postie said it had already been cleaned. I think they get a spray of something at the depo - part of their WHS.

Oh the Aus Post Postie has gone one better. They don't even load the goods and get the customer to have to go collect it themselves. The ultimate no touch service.

First delivery for the day, he's a regular delivery guy, so he yelled delivery and left on door step. We yelled Thank you back. I think it's our toaster. We've not owned one before but it's part of hubby's Friday Big Breakfast experience.

And a Click and Collect spotted at Bunnings already and it's not even 9am.

Anyone remember the old days where your parents would just get half a tonne or a tonne delivered to your house and dumped on your front lawn?

Operation normal for FastWay SlowAsHell couriers for CBD addresses, rarely attempt to deliver, mark the package "not at home" without getting out of the vehicle and take back to depot so there is a re-delivery fee.

Had a parcel promised delivery "next morning" coming one hours drive away from me - after a week of various promises and excuses I drove 30 minutes to collect it myself from the depot

I had a monitor and a office chair delivered over the last week - both came via Toll.

On Friday the guy with monitor placed the box on the ground outide his van asked for my name no signature. I had to carry it to my apartmetn myself.

On Monday the chair was very bulky and heavy so the young guy carried the box up the stairs to my door, again just asked for a first name, so signature.

if something coming via AUsPost I never get it delivered to my house as they dont even try to deliver, just automatically put a card in the letter box and then leave it at a post office that one needs a car to get to. So if coming via auspot i just have to sent to my PO box, they then leave a key in my PO box and the parcel in a parcel locker - simples.
