Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

Ive been reading that lots of mum friends are having issues in the USA with supply of clothing and shoes for their kids - wonder if we're going to be affected

I havent been able to buy a Epson multi function printer anywhere for months

Haven't been into KMart for a while but their shelves were bare. IKEA also looked rather empty a few weeks ago but haven't been in since.

I want someone, preferably a comedy group, to produce a documentary, where they find people hoarding toilet paper, and follow them around for a few days finding out how their life experiences have changed since having so much toilet paper. Are they more congenial? or has it introduced more stress and worry into their lives? Has their perspective on the fragility of human nature caused them to contemplate their oneness with the universe? or are they simply coughting more to free up space?

I was doing baby shopping in Target yesterday for a friend and found their clothing has really been impacted. Heaps of prem baby sizes but not much of anything else.

People are just stupid. Why the toilet paper - no one is pooping more even if you test positive.
Not quite so. Next door neighbours family had it. Along with intense fever, loss of taste etc - they had diarrhoea.

Apparently its not panic buying for KMart - they just can't get supplies allegedly because of factory closures, plans not flying etc.

There will be rolling shortages of various goods one would think, especially as we open and spend while the lag in supply chains catch up with us.

Re: printers - surprisingly I went to BigW earlier this week and they seemed to have had a big boost in stock of various electronics including printers and kitchen appliances. Last time I went in the shelves were pretty bare.

I think there was a rush on kids art stuff etc, that all sold out really quickly. But now its just a restock issue.

I know long life soy milk has been difficult to get in the last week around the MEL city area. Fresh soy milk is apparently available in greater quantities. (I don't drink it - so information second hand)

I managed to nab a sub $40 printer at Big W last week while I wait for my proper one to arrive. They were the only place that seemed to have stock.

Hopefully it gives people time to pause, see if they really desperately want that cheap item made in China, India, Bangladesh and Indonesia, for $5 from factories that barely pay their workers a living wage...

I don't believe that is true. Maybe the person isn't looking very wide, perhaps they are isolating and only looking in a small area of Melbourne? Stacks and stacks available in inner city supermarkets.

Hopefully dead and buried. No panic here in SA - hopefully stays that way. How is Melb going?

There have been numerous news reports of panic buying in Adelaide, at least you seem to be ok in your local area. Ridiculous.

People will pause while stock is low out of necessity, and buy even more once stock returns.

If this is to be an extended period of global economic depression (which is entirely possible/likely) then ethics or otherwise, shops like K-Mart will form an even larger part of the buying habits of the wider community.

Yes indeed. Same for IKEA. But with no panic buying we gotta talk about something shopping here.

There was for toilet paper last week but seems to be sorted now.
