Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

By and large I think the panic buying is over. It's been replaced with something new though, queues every time you want to visit a supermarket. At the moment for me it adds about 10-15 minutes onto a trip but a nice side effect is I can usually walk straight up to a self service till and then be on my way.

Suspect it varies tremendously on day of the week, time of day , state and suburb. At our local woollies the neighbour reports almost deserted and fully stocked when he went at 11am on a weekday.

Our major supermarkets in our area are fully stocked and deserted. Most people are supporting local smaller businesses which I’ve mentioned before has been a big push in our area and it has really been working.

We’ve all remembered how good really fresh fruit, veg, eggs, meat etc tastes!

Literally my major supermarket $ spend has decreased by about 70%, I go there as a shop of last resort.

Yup more in line with this. Of course in very built up areas with less small business you have no option but to go to a Coles or Woolworths.

Pretty much fully stocked now although flour a bit light on but available. Still can't get the antibacterial wipes though.

Yup more in line with this. Of course in very built up areas with less small business you have no option but to go to a Coles or Woolworths.

Even small businesses here you have to queue up to get into as well. I can't think of any open shop at the moment that has no queue..... including pharmacies etc.

In our case it is only milk and bread we get from Cokes now. A lot of the push to use Coles came from occasionally transferring flybuys to virgin. That reasoning is no longer tgere. We buy our meat from the local butchers better meat and I got good quality rib eye fillet for $20 per kg so cheaper (special this week at rock and roll butchers Brisbane) and organic veges From a online supplier direct to the door.

And my folks tell me that their local Coles and Woolies (West Lakes) have an entire aisle in their store, dedicated to TP! They were so happy, they bought a 12 pack of their favourite brand (at last!). I asked for a photo, but neither could remember how the camera works - but they were quite adept at downloading the COVIDSafe app.

I read on AFF somewhere that unless there’s a photo then it didn’t happen. .

We are still working our way through the bulk meat "Prepper's Pack" delivery we got on 22 March. It was meant to contain sufficient meat for a family of four for a month. We are rationing it out somewhat, and also trying to buy some things from the local butchers, etc.

@Katie my Instagram feed has had quite a few of those wholesalers selling direct. We don't eat huge amounts of meat but I have to say some of those packs have look tempting

I thought that about the odd thing I've not been able to get, but then I thought back to pre-COVID-19 times and that happened then too; so perhaps we're just viewing things being out of stock with slightly different glasses these days? Some food for thought, no pun intended

Slightly OT - had to go into Harvey Norman's in Frankston yesterday to buy a small heater (previous died being used whilst WFH) Maybe my understanding of 'essential' is different. My goodness the joint was packed and busy. I had to walk through the furniture section & people were seriously just browsing. I'd researched purchase online so went to exactly where I wanted and was in and out in about 5 minutes. It was crazy
