Here's an interesting potential MR option for the more time-relaxed folk:

Maximum of 16 sectors on CX J for $1620 + taxes. Easily 900+ SCs if planned right. Seems like you have to position to MNL first.

Doesn't say what fare it books into though - could be a unique fare that doesn't earn SCs - but it does credit to CX MP.

I'm going around Asia in a month with a couple weeks to kill - may have just found an answer in what to do. Can position on 3K for a comfy amount then exit in TPE (skip final 2 sectors) or hope for a late HKG or MNL JASA.

Going to take a few days for me to sort this out, so if you get more information post it up.

The way I interpret, it is:

* EX MNL only
* Excludes taxes ( can be hefty )
* Only mileage & SC's for J
* Limited seats
* Bookable only through MNL CX.

It's possible to cherry pick the the 80 SC routes - Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, (Northern) China - for a total of 1240SCs!

MNL-HKG-SUB-HKG-CGK-HKG-SIN-HKG-KUL-HKG-PEN-HKG-ICN-HKG-NRT-HKG-MNL - legal, as long as all but one of the HKG arrivals are stopovers.

Instead i'm with a bunch of clowns on the gold coast for 2 weeks and wasting $450 on an airfare to singapore i can no longer use and will cost $200 to change
