Credits or refunds on unused travel insurance

Now if only the car insurance people would offer something for the vehicles that are barely being used... I wonder if that is actually translating into lower accident rates. I guess it would vary state by state, given that some have been mostly locked down, whilst others are business as usual. Perhaps we can look forward to lower rates in Victoria, whilst they ramp up the price in Queensland.

Accidents have definitely reduced. I know someone who is an insurance assessor. Hours and wages reduced in the initial lockdown in March. Then back to work full-time but still at the reduced wages late last year. Not sure if the situation has since changed

Good point. You could always try Shannons who offer more flexibility . They are financially reliable as actually owned by Suncorp

Youi actually did this - wasn't much, but if you confirmed you were using your vehicle less, then they refunded 15% of the premium month by month for 3 months (so 3.75% of the annual premium in total). Wasn't big dollars, but at least they thought about it.

They also did 3 months for home and contents - but that was only 10% (so 2.5% in total).

Just call me gobsmacked...
Received an email last week from Allianz asking me to make a claim for the unused portion of my annual insurance policy.
I filled in the form , ticked all the boxes and pressed send and immediately received one of those.. we are overloaded due to covid yada yada yada
So you could have knocked me down with a feather when a few days later an email confirms that they have deposited a refund for the unused portion of my policy...
The show is never over until the fat er person.. sings… :) 👏 🔚

Happened here in NZ. First I knew about it was the car insurance company wanted by bank account details for a refund. Not a scam as I did receive some money.
