Cruising choices with an active Pandemic

Anybody any experience with NCL Norwegian. They have some good last minute deals for the Med and because I can't shake this virus completely and not feeling like driving much was thinking I might just hop onto this for 10 days to relax
Sounds like just what you need to pick up. Not School holidays so not as many kids. Someone to tidy your room, cook your meals, all you need to think about is where to sit, or go to the port, and what to eat. NCL will be fine.

I’ve done quite a few NCL cruises. I don’t get into the nickel and dining and don’t use their shore excursion. I have always had a very good time, I think helped by a good Cruise Critic group. We always like O’Sheehan’s for many breakfasts and lunches, and as a meeting point when our cabins were all on that deck.
OK booked - any other hints

Got drinks package included plus $50US off every shore excursion plus two nights speciality dining so quite happy

I always get multi quotes wrong so just going to reply to this and it should merge

All booked

I do not have high expectations of NCL so I hope I'm pleasantly surprised -boat is Norwegian Sun. I can not understand why cruise ships don't have self serve laundries. Is it really just so they can make money from doing it for people.

I'm having two nights in Lisbon first (last visit was 40 years ago) and haven't booked a flight back yet and depending on how I feel I may do a few more days near Lisbon. A bit of reading about the Canary Islands to come

ALL Silverseas ships have self serve laundries !! There is one on every floor, a washer and dryer plus detergent. Also an iron and ironing board. And I mean every floor . -even the ones with the really big suites !!! And it is central near the lifts, not hidden away where you cant find it !

and the QM2 had plenty as well. 10 days is just that annoying amount of time. 7 days you can manage but I don't want to take 10 days worth of clothes. I guess there'll be clothes draped around the room then

Agree. 7 days clothing is all you need with onboard laundries. Celebrity doesn't have laundries either. Thankfully Viking Ocean does, and provides safe marine detergent for free. Anyways, just bite the bullet and get your laundry done by the ship. Just check that their machines don't kill clothes. There's nothing nicer than coming back to some lovely smelling and beautifully packed clean clothes.

Cruise ship cabin designers go to great lengths to eliminate places to attach a clothes line.
I always pack a few bits of wire , pegs and little hooks to ensure my daily laundry can function.

There is usually a line in the shore. I take a couple of plastic hangers and pant a clip hangar, plus a few pegs.

I had a line packed then read that Viking also has a line provided in the large shower. Plus heated floors which could also work. Ok. @Port Power, scrubber ordered. Now might just use the dryers if heavy items. Unlikely. It is a hot hot cruise.

I always pack a few spare wire coat hangers (and pegs) when I’m travelling for a week or more. Very handy to dry a few items as required.

The Scrubba is invaluable on a Kimberley expedition when you have to change after a hot and sweaty outing. Fortunately all my light cotton tops are the sort to wring and drip dry to wear. No ironing needed! And on NCL without passenger laundries.

Geez. Now FB is listening in. This just popped up as a new post on a Viking page. Using magnetic hooks to stick to ceiling. We take hooks to hang lanyards and hats on

I only do two tops at a time so they can hang in the shower with undies. I don’t want the cabin taken over! Pegs on the backs of balcony chairs are useful if the fit. Back to the bathroom if not a balcony cabin! I have never found magnetic hooks strong enough for hangars.

Amazon have ripper strength ones! I agree, I think I'll try the bathroom ceiling in the shower alcove for hanging. But will try the magnets.

As far as putting clothes on the balcony to dry. We received our neighbours knickers one night. I made sure the attendant knew they weren't mine but left it for him to sort out. I wonder what he did with them? Chuck them? Look at the size and ask if they'd lost something. 🤭
